The staff. The location. The view. The kitchen. The quiet. The rooftop.
I stayed 5 nights at Mikaso with Daniel and his absolutely lovely staff, including the adorable cats, and cannot wait to go back! Although San Pedro is a "party town", Mikaso is a lovely space to relax. Located just out of the main tourist area by a 10 minute walk (or cheap tuktuk), there were still numerous restaurants and facilities right there. (Try a massage and bath at LosThermales!)
The light sounds wafting in from town were not a distraction and if I wanted to stay out late, they give you a key to quietly return on your own schedule.
Right on the lake, the views are incredible and the amount of stars you can see from the rooftop are innumerable.
I did need the provided fan, but air conditioning isn't needed with the breeze off the lake.
I can't say enough about how awesome the staff is. Not just helpful and caring, they were all very sweet, accommodating, and some *ahem* even funny!

We initially booked three night and ended up staying seven. Amazing view, best location, super friendly owner-family, and the hammock! We would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

We loved staying in this town because of the variety of waterfront restaurants and it felt a little less touristy than the other towns. You can easily walk or tuktuk to San Juan and you can easily access a quick boat ride to San Marcos as well.

This town is really just for young backpackers looking to party. You can pop in for a few hours during the day to check it out, but if you don't fit that demographic stay in a different town on the lake.

This place is a riot of colour and full of authentic Guatemalan life. The women in the town were dressed so beautifully, one could just watch them going about their daily lives. The little town is situated right on the lake and there is more than enough to do to keep one busy for a few days. I would highly recommend this place. As a bonus there is a cluster of very good and healthy middle eastern and other restaurants. I would go back for the falafel any day of the week.

When you go to SP it's not just SP.
When you go to SP it's not just SP. Boat rides to towns like San Juan, San Marcus, Panajachel, etc. are right there! Colorful, full of culture, markets, education and experience. SP is a great place to base yourself in; especially if you are Jewish/kosher. It's near chabad, 2 kosher restaurants and the docks to take you to all the other villages/towns.

It should be a five quetzal to get anywhere in the main area of San Pedro in Tuk Tuk. If you go to the El Mirador have the tuk tuk to wait for you or it can be hard getting one back to town. The 5B ATM machines charge large fees so try to get money before you go here. For cheap food go to either of the Tacomexs. A lot of locals wash their clothes in the lake so if you want to swim go to San Marcos.

San Pedro is full of night life and back packers.
San Pedro is full of night life and back packers. It is very safe and it is easy to access most other parts of Lake Atitlan. Be prepared with cash as many places do not accept credit cards, and if they do they add a large fee. My only major criticism is it is so touristy that they do not have much local Guatemalan food!! The food is not great in the city.

This hotel is great. The views were amazing and it has direct access to the lake if you want to go for a swim. All of the staff were very friendly and provided assistance with anything we needed. The property was very clean and the rooms were as advertised. The breakfast buffet was good as well. It is the best hotel to stay in San Pedro in a quiet area with a 5 minute walk to the tourist areas or where the locals live. San Pedro is the best area to stay if you are visiting Lake Atitlan for a few nights.
There was a kitchen (not many utensils and bowls but still good option in a hotel). The view from the terrace was stunning! Location is further from the city center but still it was really good and safe, easy to reach from the main street. We were allowed to choose the floor of the room. Comfort was great because our double room had a private bathroom and perfect view for a very low price = perfect combination. Definitely recommend!
We spent 4 nights at Casa Lobo (jungle Room). We really appreciated the location out of the hustle and bustle from San Pedro. There is a fantastic coffee place 100m away from the hotel which is ideal for having breakfast before a morning of sunbathing near the house pool. The bedding was excellent. The landlord is very kind and accessible. Easy self check-in...
Mikaso hotel was great, very well priced and the view of the lake is amazing. Rene was great, very friendly and always willing to tend to our requests. Daniel was also great and whilst there was a power outage on the lake, he was very kind and gave us activities to do. Our room was good for the price. Overall we had a good experience.
The view from my room on the top floor was amazing (though those on lower floors have partially blocked views of the lake by the hotel across the street with the same name). I loved the hammock outside the room. Owners are very sweet and had a room for luggage storage after check out. I would definitely come back!
The breakfast itself is worth what you pay per night. Stay at Zoola. The lounge is great, the pets are fun, the food amazing, and the vibe is perfect (party if you want, or chill if you'd like). The location is nice too; just a 5 minute stroll to the main tourist street of San Pedro. Staff was friendly.
Mikaso has such a beautiful view right on the lake, and it’s nice and quiet as it’s a short walk from the main part of town. The restaurant on the top floor is amazing too! The staff was all lovely and very helpful. They have kayaks for rent which was one my favorite things we did while in Atitlán.
Julio and his family took really good care of me and made me feel more than welcome!
Julio also helped me with transit to Guatemala City and made sure everything worked out great.
The breakfast served there is also some of the best food I had in Guatemala and it was a joy to wake up to :)
One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Had so much fun here. They staff was a ton of fun - they really know how to throw a party. Really enjoyed the pub crawl. Bathrooms were surprisingly clean for a party place. Rooms were comfy.
Excellent host. Beautiful view of the lake and mountains from the roof. Bed was better than most in Guatemala. The 2 best restaurants in town ate very close (Smoking Joe's and Tacoyaki). Room is modern and clean. Free laundry service.
Perfect hotel to explore San Pedro and Lake Atitlan. The hotel is centrally located but quiet with a very nice view from the veranda. The whole property is very clean. The personal was super friendly and helped us a lot.
The owners were really lovely and kind and wanted to give us anything we needed. The facilities are ok albeit a little bit basic. The breakfast was delicious, the best we had in Guatemala.
Great spot. Mostly great people. Clean rooms and facilities. Walk through the restaurant and you are right on the beach. Dark in Guatemala gets you good stargazing.
it was clean, it has clean towels, the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean too and the hotel has an amazing lake view and the breakfast is included
