Location on the Red Line bus was convenient and hotel provided shuttle service to and from Kawaguchiko Station. View from balcony room was gorgeous, especially once Mt Fuji decided to show itself! Staff very accommodating and helpful. Food was prepared by local woman who clearly showed pride in her preparations. Cuisine was entirely Japanese and delicious. Hotel is older but well kept and comfortable. Nice onsen baths available.

We had never been to Japan before and if you type into your computer "which is the most popular destination in Japan", it will tell you Mt Fuji, so we decided to go. So did 10 million other tourists!!!! It was a busy place especially around the bus/train station.
You have to visit the mountain, but watch the weather otherwise it could be a wasted trip as we found when we reached the 3,000 m mark on the bus with rain and thick cloud cover so no amazing views. Avoid the tourist shops as they are a "rip off" price wise, and once again expect lots and lots of tourists.
The place we stayed was the cheapest non dorm accommodation we could find in the area and it was good value for money with a great host, so would recommend staying there if you are on a tight budget. The room was small compared to European room sizes, but the private bathroom and toilet were great, although access to the room was difficult with large suitcases up a spiral staircase.
There is a shopping mall 10-15 minutes walk away with a selection of places to eat (Italian, Chinese, Japanese, burger joint) . The bus trip on the Red Line to the lake(s) area is a nice half day trip and cheap.
All in all, if you have never been before, GO, it's well worth it, and a direct bus service from/to both international airports.

We rented a car and drove from Tokyo to Yamanashi and for us it was perfect. We were able to see all 5 lakes in one day going from one to the other in succession.
The restaurants in the area offer a great variety of sushi, izakaya and bbq. There is also a great Omakase restaurant nearby the hotel called Fresh Water that offers a different experience to the usual tried and tested.
On the day of our departure back to Tokyo we decided to swing by Fuji Q Highland with low expectations - the theme park is legit with a great Naruto Village, high octane rollercoaster rides and from our own experience a great haunted house that lasts the majority of an hour to walk through.
Loved it. Would definitely revist the entire area.

Check the weather forecast before planning your trip to Kawaguchiko, as beside the view of Mt Fuji there's very little to do there, also restaurants are very rare and working hours is almost not existent, everything closes early or not open at all... so be mindful of the meals you should carry with you.

The view of Mt Fuji was absolutely breathtaking! They have a rooftop that has an unobscured view of Mt Fuji. We also booked the room with a view and were very happy with it! The free shuttles to and from the Kawaguchiko station was very prompt and tremendously helpful since there are limited buses to and from the hotel. All I had to do was message the hotel on Booking.com and they responded within minutes and sent the shuttle to pick us up. The customer service and staff were outstanding! Everyone was very nice and friendly.
The hotel is well located, around 15min walk from Kawaguchiko station (you could also take a public bus for around 200 yen, but they were too crowded to go with luggage). The hotel offered a free shuttle from 8am to 11am back to Kawaguchiko station. They have free drinks and cookies at the reception and were very organized. Breakfast was around $25 per person/day, but offered a good variety of foods for all tastes. Bedroom had a nice view of the Mt Fuji and everything you needed inside.
Amazing traditional hotel (roykan). Loved the japanese style room (bathroom looked recently renovated) overlloking the beautiful Kawaguchiko lake. Staff was friendly and helpful, they have free shuttle to the station (which is 15mins walking otherwise). Breakfast was very rich and tasty in a dining hall with a beautifull view. There was also a bar/game room with pool, fussball and other games for free.
It's a nice traditional Japanese house. The room is spacious compared with general hotel rooms in Japan. Our room even had Mt. Fuji view. We definitely enjoyed the onsite onsen, especially because there wasn't many people so sometimes you got the onsen all to yourself.
GPS guided us to the Shinto shrine next door, but the actual entrance is further around the corner down the road.
Japanese style room, super clean, with all what you need, it is cozy, futons and sheets extra comfy, with beautiful view to the lake and garden, I didn't even know they offer Onsen and sauna 24 hrs, until I arrived there. It is simple and old style Onsen but good to start with a nice bath looking a bit of the beautiful Fuji. Love this Hotel and definitely recommend it.
The hotel is located right next to the lake, nearby to the mt fuji panoramic ropeway which lead you to the top of tenjozan park with a great view of mt fuji. The room is spacious and clean. Shower is a bit small, but it is just the right size for us. The traditional japanese breakfast is great, we love it. Didn't booked for the dinner so no comment.
Very nice cozy hotel with a stunning view in the japanese style room. Everyone was really friendly in the hotel and they had no problems with speaking english. There are also 2 onsen, one for women, one for men. Everything was very clean. We loved staying in the hotel. Thank you very much for this experience.
Traditional hotel with a modern feel. Amenities are great. They have two onsen and views of Mt Fuji. A short walk to the lake and nearby restaurants (which were very good). The hotel offers free rides to and from the train station which was very convenient. The room was very comfortable and had a great view.
The owner was really nice and friendly. We love the style of the hotel, it is Japan-Western style. The location is far from the train station, but we have no issue because we came by car, and it turned to be really nice and quiet to stay.
The room comes with a good size twin bed and good bathroom.
The hotel is conveniently located near a bus stop and has a great view of the lake and Mt Fuji. The restaurant Konami next to it serves great Japanese meals. The breakfast was very Japanese but I enjoyed it very much. They gave a pretty good breakfast spread. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Get to experience the traditional Japanese Ryokan and Japanese dinner and breakfast. Staffs are polite and helpful. Hotel provide pickup service from Kawaguchi station. Staffs are able to communicate in English. The onsen is good, you get to enjoy mountain Fuji from the hotel onsen.
Very cozy little home, with a view of Mt Fuji when the weather is good. Very walkable distance from Kawaguchiko station and all sorts of amenities like washer/dryer and dishes with utensils included. Wife and I loved the stay here, very different feel from a traditional hotel.
This hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels I've stayed in Japan. It over looks Lake Kawaguchiko and the view is magnificent. The rooms are clean. The staff is so welcoming and helpful. Walking distance to good restaurants and activities. Lovely stay, 10/10 recommend.
The hotel is in walking distance from the train station where most buses and trains arrive.
It was nice to spend atleast one night in "Japanese style" room.
Everything was clean.
You can leave your bags at reception few hours before check-in and after check-out for free.
Well located with an amazing view for the Mt Fuji, this property exceeded my expectations.
The hospitality of the owner as well as the staff makes you feel so comfortable and welcomed.
The hot springs facility in the hotel was by far my favorite in Japan.
Great location, just in the main activity centre of Lake Kawaguchi. This is a small Japanese-style ryokan hotel and offers very personal and hospitable service, Both breakfast and (Kaiseki) dinner were good though not offering exquisite ingredients.
