The room was very nice and comfortable, and in a good location for coming home to Terra Linda. The climate controls worked well. The outdoor patio area of the hotel looked inviting, but it was a bit chilly that weekend, and we had limited time.
Nestled north of the iconic San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, relax in a two-room suite at our San Rafael all-suite hotel adjacent to Northgate Mall and the Marin County Civic Center.

This was a great hotel, the location was nice, just a short drive away from several attractions and it was a quick drive to get to some shops and restaurants. The breakfast at the hotel is fantastic, plenty of fresh, hot and cold foods to choose from and you can get made-to-order omelettes. The bed was super comfy and the rooms seemed pretty sound proof which was nice. Great size room with modern fixtures.

It’s a very cute boutique hotel. It seems to be under new management and the property is undergoing some construction for improvements which is nice to see. It is perfectly located in a nice neighborhood and very close to the downtown area. Everything is walkable.

The room was spacious and had great air conditioning. They had blackout drapes and a nice tub. I loved the shampoo and conditioner that was already in refillable dispensers in the tub/shower area. They also had every channel I could ask for with the TV and I was able to access my netflix as well. I will stay there again. Great value.

San Rafael was a great location for our mission of tracing ancestors in Marin County.
It was also easy to get to the San Francisco bay area and beyond.
Plenty of shops within a short drive.
We even took a trip out to Napa while there.

There are lots of restaurants on the main street. There are things to be seen in the surrounding area, but I have seen them before. This trip was to see people. I ate at IHOP, great friendly spot open until 10 pm. Also Phyliss's Giant Burgers - and that's no lie. I also had a very good crepe at the Crepevine Restaurant, which had a large selection of crepes, omelettes, sandwhiches and more.

I actually visited friends in nearby San Anselmo and it was great, shopped a little, walked around the neighborhoods, ate in some truly inspired restaurants, and thought this is a really special little town
To visit. Loved it.

It's a good base from which to visit Marin and other neighboring towns, some that are much more expensive. 4th Street has some good eating, Lundy's and Theresa + Johnny's for breakfast if you need more than Villa Inn's breakfast. Also loved being a short drive (could probably have walked to both restaurants) and to Copperfield's Bookstore.
Also if you can't handle the big city, this is a less intense and cheaper option than staying in San Francisco.
The retreat is very easy to reach from Hwy 101 and convenient to San Rafael and environs. You need a car to get around. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine. The decor is clearly very well planned for the hosts. It was a little over the top for us but comfortable. Having access to a washer and dryer was great. As it was cold and rainy we couldn't take advantage of any nearby walking trails or outside spaces.
We really liked how quiet and private the hotel was. The rooms were clean and well kept, and the suite we were given had a partial kitchen with a refrigerator and working stove. This brought an additional level of comfort to our stay. The staff were courteous and attentive, we really appreciate how kind Yoely was to us. We will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and will be returning guests.
In general the room it's very clean, but the room had this especial odor, like a old hotel, but the high touch areas are very very clean, the beds are very comfortable, but some of the bed pillows need to be replaced, they smelled like other people's odors.
Very good customer service.
Even with those little inconveniences, I think it's a very well keep hotel. We will definitely stay here again.
its historic charm, style, and location. I feel like I’m staying in an average, old city in Spain — except the neighborhood is decidedly Victorian. The Panama began 100 years ago as a Mexican tamale restaurant in the suburb of San Rafael. It’s my favorite place to stay in Marin County and the options range from affordable rooms to beautifully-decorated bungalows and suites.
Hotel was comfortable but a bit run down. It had a small air-conditioner in the room (very welcome in the heat). The hotel is in a very quiet location. San Rafael is an excellent base for exploring southern Marin County by public transport, because it has good train and bus links north and south, and to the ferry terminals; it has bus services west and east as well.
Lovely location, close to everything but quiet and peaceful. Very spacious and comfortable, best night’s sleep we’ve had in quite some time! Loved everything about it! The owners were extremely responsive to questions and had excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. Wish we could have stayed longer!!
Everywhere in California seems to be really expensive and quality seems generally not great unless you pay mega bucks. This place, while not cheap was relatively very good value. Nice, smart, clean and spacious. Added bonus is that the people working here were all really friendly.
Super quaint, clean, affordable, friendly. Able to get a last minute room when our campsite was rained out. Feel very lucky to have found this hotel. Also San Rafael is super cute. The hotel is a nice walk from downtown with plenty of restaurants etc.
The person did not have our 2nd reservation even if I had the paperwork with us...was unable to accommodate the full reservation. cancelled without penalty and we needed to find another hotel.
NOTHING THEIR SYSTEM WAS DOWN AND REFUSED TO OR COULDN'T CHECK ME IN SO I COULD NOT STAY THERE. I HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER HOTEL AND DEMAND A REFUND FOR MY PAYMENT FOR THIS HOTEL
check in wonderful , Sednir is always amazing everytime I came to stay in this hotel ( great plus to meet familiar face as i entered), breakfast is fantastic.
