We brought the groceries for dinner up from the supermarket in Yusuhara and prepared it in the guesthouse. There are no shops nearby - best to prepare in advance and make sure you have what you need. A delicious breakfast was provided and waiting for us in the fridge when we got up in the morning. We prepared the eggs and enjoyed everything with the fresh-baked bread.

We loved the location, it's a beautiful view from up on the hillside and you can fully enjoy it from the outdoor areas in front of the guesthouse. The house itself is lovely. We particularly enjoyed spending time in the living room. The room was cosy and we loved being able to slide open the doors and have direct access to nature. Takao is a consummate host - very friendly, excellent communication, and he has thought of absolutely everything you could possibly want.

The nights before and after temple 35, walking without a bag for that day was so nice and gave my legs a mild break with plenty of time to do laundry, clean, and reorganize my gear. Since it's so affordable it makes a great place for a rest day. Walking distance to a great grocery store and conbinis.
