If you are staying in Keystone, go early and walk the President's loop before the crowds arrive. Then go back to the hotel for lunch and maybe some recreational opportunities, but head back for the evening presentation and monument lighting. (Your morning parking ticket remains valid throughout the day.)

Absolutely awesome!!!
Absolutely awesome!!! Walk the Presidential Walk to get closer angle views of the Presidents. Stop at the ice cream parlor at the Monument and buy a large huckleberry ice cream cone. You won’t be disappointed.

Go early or later in the day.
Go early or later in the day. Parking garage with a great deal of walking. Parking has elevator to take you to the monument but lots of walking on the last level. Has changed substantially in the last few years. Parking is $5-$10 payable at the top level.

If visiting Mount Rushmore, you really only need to spend a few hours to enjoy the views. After visiting Mount Rushmore consider seeing the Crazy Horse Museum. You can if you choose to, spend the entire day there. The history is unending and be prepared to learn the truths with regards to our Native American ancestors. Crazy Hore Museum is funded by donations and there is a $35.00 fee to enter. There is absolutely no federal funding of any kind and those who over see the Crazy Horse Museum want to keep it that way.I hope you visit.

We LOVED our trip here. It was so neat.
We LOVED our trip here. It was so neat. All my kids (young adults) and their friends climbed the stairs, my hubby and I went to the cafe and had a coffee. We had a wonderful chat with other tourists. This is a must see for anyone. There is so much to do in the area, you could spend 2 weeks here and still not have experienced everything!

Go there at daytime, walk the trail.
Go there at daytime, walk the trail. It is short and easy and you get a great view.
Come back in the evening for the lightning ceremony.
Do NOT eat there. The food is boooooooring, barely edible. Eat in Keystone 2 miles away, plenty of good choices at fair prices.

Location was great! We visited off season so there was no traffic during our stay, which made the close proximity to Mount Rushmore and other attractions even better. It was also extremely affordable.
Although the property is a little dated it was very clean, and our room was spacious for our family of four. Staff were very polite and friendly.
Breakfast was good, and bonus…they served the BEST hotel coffee I have ever had!!
Location was great you could see Mount Rushmore from hotel. We arrived just in time for a snow and ice storm being from Alabama that was special treat for granddaughter. Breakfast was excellent. Water pressure for shower was excellent. Staff was friendly.
Breakfast was good, good selection. Location was great, only a short drive to Mount Rushmore. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and professional.
Location was perfect to access the 1800’s train and everything in keystone. Keystone itself is small so not sure any hotel is going to be far away. Short drive to Mount Rushmore
Everything was great! The rooms are small, but that was not a problem at all. The hotel is built up against the granite wall of a mountain. Breakfast was great and staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking garage was wonderful. Access to shops and restaurants was right out the front door. Literally a 10 minute drive to Mount Rushmore, about 30 minutes from Custer State Park. Perfect location to use as a base. I would definitely stay here again.
First, you can see Mount Rushmore from the parking lot, and from some of the top floor rooms. It's far, but you can see it, 2.5 miles away. Clean and new, unlike so many of the other hotels in the area. Front desk and breakfast workers were great.
I decided to stay at Under Canvas Mount Rushmore because, I’ve never been to that part of the country and I wanted experience the beautiful out doors.. bonus the Glamping was awesome a hotel room in a tent.
This hotel is in the cute town of Keystone very close to Mount Rushmore. The town has alot of shopping and eating places so its very convenient. The hotel was nice -- it was older and the room was very basic and did not have any wow but the necessities were there and the bed was okay. It had an elevator and enough parking. the front desk guy was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was great and had alot of options!
It's a really nice hotel in a perfect location - very close to the town of Keystone (easy walking distance) and just 2 km from Mount Rushmore. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and there was a nice pool and hot tub.
The hotel was in walking distance to most everything in Keystone, and only a 5 minute drive to Mount Rushmore. The staff was very friendly, especially at the breakfast. We had the suite and it was perfect for our family.
