Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Honestly, there was very little to dislike. The hostel is lovely.
The facilities were clean and well maintained. The provided resources were clean, and the rental of additional towels and linens were very cheap. The room was minimally furnished, but this was within my expectations for a hostel. so quite nice. fantastic kitchens.

No one at reception anytime in the evening. Had to phone to get into the building on arrival even though it was within check-in hours. It's a shame YHA seems to be cutting back on staff hours. I used to enjoy getting the hints and tips about local highlights from the staff. It would have been nice to have had a personal touch
The cosy common room lounge with a wonderful fireplace. Modern well equipped kitchen. Hostel is a just stones throw from the beach :)

The bedrooms are a bit small but wasn't bad.
Kitchen was big and had a lot to cook with, the shared room was nice with a ton of movies and comfortable couch. You could walk easily to bars and restaurants. The room was nothing special, a little small with no lockers but it worked for a short stay.

There was some noise from other rooms late at night.
A well placed location and modern facilities make this hostel are great choice for the budget traveller. My queen bedroom had a balcony and great view over the town. The bathroom and kitchen facilities are clean and well situated in the building.

Nothing in particular
Very nice building, and good rooms. Bathrooms are nice, and although bathrooms to rooms ratio appeared to be too low, it was not an issue at all. Nice showers. Kitchen and common room areas are cozy, but not that big, so could maybe be a challenge, but wasn’t for us. Good location in Apollo Bay. Staff also super friendly and helpful.

I loved this YHA! Great jumping off point for the Great Ocean Walk, and it has beautiful facilities. I really enjoyed my two nights there.

It was great for meeting new people and everybody was super friendly. There were many public spaces to meet others, but also to chill alone, and everything was clean. It was close to the busstation and you easily get around the town

There has no personal plug for every beds and there were limited in the room so better provide a power board. The mattress were comfy but the bunk bed structure are not strong. It shakes when the guest of upper bed climb up and down.
The whole hostel is eco hostel, nature daylight, window with green view from the room. The location is in the center of Apollo Bay easy to walk to the beach, shops, restaurant and grocery. The room and common area were always clean. The shower has a dry area which I really like They provides plenty of space for common area, kitchen, theatre room, working room. In summary my stay was impressive.

Bathroom had no hand soap. Kitchens could have been kept cleaner. It was a budget stay but worked out quite pricey for a family.
Great common spaces. Clean comfy rooms. Excellent staff.

The foosball table was missing some parts.
I liked the kitchens, the movie room and the games. The hostel is close to “downtown”. Lots of dining options close by. The walls are thin but travellers respected quiet time so we got decent sleep.

Excellent, clean hostel with great facilities. Loved the roof terrace and other communal areas. Staff were really friendly and helpful when I left something behind at the hostel.
