How ever this time as is the same everywhere we noticed the big rise in the prices. One this we did not appreciate and actually we were disgusted we having to pay an extra fee when we used out visa debit card to pay for our drinks at the bar!! The hotel is obviously under new management as we have never had to pay this extra fee before and as such, we will not be booking another room at the Duxton any time soon! Also, the increase in the valet parking was $25 more than the last time we stayed at the Duxton was a little hard to swallow given that the concierge service is now not any were near a good as it used to be!

We have always enjoyed staying at the Duxton it has always been one of our favorite places to stay.

Being partly informed we experienced great difficulty with the toilet being so low and no assistance rails etc. The hotel has no assistance rooms available. Manager resorted to suction floor mat to overcome slippery shiney tiles .

- Housekeeping was hit and miss. The housekeeper for the second half of my stay was great, but whoever was doing housekeeping during the first half was really phoning it in (not changing water bottles, soft drinks, toilet paper, or literally cleaning anything for three days in a row). It was quite frustrating. - Wifi wasn’t always good enough for video calls and I had to switch to cellular many times - The breakfast selection is not very rich and seems to be short on vegetables - No self-service laundry, and the hotel laundry prices are 10-20$ per item

The bed side light switches were very confusing to use. The room overall was very clean, the only let down was the two large stains on the carpet, which was the first thing you saw when you walked into the room.

There wasn’t anything we disliked!

The cleanliness, big rooms, good views. Towels were soft pillows were amazing! Beds were super comfy, toiletries supplied for very good. Staff were very friendly and accomodating.

It says on their page that parking is available, however doesn't mention that its paid parking . Moreover the charges are extremely expensive . Just like if a hotel mentions air conditioning , hair dryer , kettle , towels etc on their page they don't charge extra for all this. We also thought if it's mentioning parking , they won't charge their guests. The added cost would have definitely gotten us a much better hotel had we known earlier.

There was a lot to like about the Duxton. The room was comfortable and the pillow menu was a nice touch. Most of the staff were friendly and the location was great.

I arrived and put the cases on the trolley. I struggled getting the trolley through door on my own as hubby parked the car. Bit disappointed in this as it left a bad taste in my mouth particularly since there were valets on the driveway. I felt that because we didn't want valet parking, we were left to do things ourselves. This was the only disappointment. Fibreglass grill was nice service amazing, my beefcheeks sadly I've had better on a pub menu. Hubbys steak was good but not award winning ilike the restaurant claimed!

Location was great for the city. We walked to Elizabeth keys for coffee.
