The decor is tired and could do with a refurb, a coffee pod machine in the room would have been perfect, but it doesn't detract from a great location and amenities.

The location is excellent, close to the ferries, the Rocks precinct, Opera House and light rail. Friendly and helpful staff.

Although we stayed for three days we didn’t have much time to see much more than the lobby and our room. We possibly had the worst view as we were only on the second floor looking over the roof of the police museum to the very active construction site of the old AMP building. Could just see through the trees to circular quay. I would like to go back and have the time to enjoy the pool ,restaurant and whisky bar.

The location was great at Opera House end of circular quay. The room was excellent with a large bathroom fully lined in marble. Great bed and furnishings with plenty of room to unpack and move around . We arrived early and we left our luggage to go exploring coming back after lunch to be given our keys and go up to our room. A useful note for others is to avoid the stairs up to Macquarie Street as there’s a lift next to them. Easy walk to the botanical gardens and the art gallery. Choice of trams , trains and ferries to explore Sydney and beyond.

The musty smell of the property. The weird reception tables. A reception bench would work better.

The location was great and it was very clean. The in house dining was surprisingly tasty.

Slightly disappointing stay, but in a spacious room, very close to Sydney’s most iconic landmarks.
    • Leisure trip

    • Stayed 2 nights

Our room was quite noisy, with a constant thrumming/mechanical sound; it felt like we were on a ship, listening to loud engine noise. The hotel felt run down and I expected more for our money (the bathroom taps dripped unceasingly, the TV only had free-to-air). The staff seemed polite but uncaring and gave the same level of service as a cheap motel; when I mentioned at the front desk that my husband and I had to vacate our room for several hours due to extremely loud music (with an unrelenting bass beat which was sending me insane after 3 hours) they explained that they were hosting an event in the ballroom under our room and it would cease soon, but there was no apology, no empathy.

The hotel is located within a short walk of Circular Quay, the Rocks and the Opera House. The room was very spacious, had a really comfortable bed and a lovely, big bathroom with a great shower.

The interior was a bit dated, large stain on the carpet in room, and the wallpaper was peeling. The air freshener used in the main areas was a bit heavy too. I would not say that was a 5-star accom.

The only thing I found that could be upgraded is the bath towels. They were quite small. Having a set of large bath sheets and then a smaller set for people with long hair would be useful.

Have stayed at the Sir Stamford many times. Always love it. Best location, reasonable parking fees overnight in their garage, large rooms, old world charm, very clean and comfortable, large bathrooms, friendly staff. I personally also like the rooftop pool and the highlander bar. We were also upgraded and had a room with a partial harbour view over the botanical gardens and Sydney Conservatorium. From the hotel it's a very quick walk to Circular Quay ferries, trains and trams that can take you anywhere in the city, Opera House, Botanical Gardens, the Rocks and to attractions in the city centre like the OVB, Hyde Park, Chinatown, Darling Harbour.
