Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

North MacedoniaThe hotel does not provide free tea or coffee, not even a complimentary bottle of water upon arrival. Being in a historical building has its advantages, but as other buildings around the hotel are not in the best shape, occasional unwanted visitors, like cockroaches, can be encountered in the rooms.
The hotel is perfectly located, close to the Mangal Park and Portal to Amazonia. It is also close enough to several important points in the Old City. It is also close to several good restaurants, and one of the best restaurants in the city is actually in the hotel. The staff are very helpful.

BelgiumApart from the park nearby all other sights and good places to eat are a taxi ride away. But for people from Western Europe, taxis are cheap in Belém.

AustraliaWhile the old part of the hotel was lovely the new section was pretty ordinary.
Staff were great and very helpful, even though we did not speak Portuguese. It was easy to get a taxi to any place we wanted to go, and much better than staying in a high rise.

BrazilCould have more pillow options and a little more attention with the replacement of bath linen. Small confusion about payment during check-out was easily resolved by the manager.
The hotel is in a completely renovated historical building from the 18th century, with rustic decoration themed around the Amazonian navigation and pieces of regional ceramics. Located in Belém's Old Town, the main tourist attractions, such as Forte do Presépio, Mercado Ver-o-Peso and Estação das Docas, are within walking distance. (Avoid walking in the area at night) Very comfortable bed and good shower. Great breakfast, with excellent variety and some fresh regional delights. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

MozambiqueWith time the management need to improve to care for details like bed linen and towels quality; loose toilet sit, and other small things in the room - It was an issue in my last stay back in 20 and is again.

FranceThe bed, linen and pillows.
Beautiful historic building downtown Belém, unfortunately not too well maintained. The biggest room is good. The mattress is ok, but the major problem is the linen and pillows. The pillows are uncomfortable, linens not in a good conditions, had some dirty spots and smelling like not properly washed. The hotel has a restaurant. The staff there is very friendly, however they should have more options of light meals, like salads, yogurts, fruits, etc in the menu.

BrazilOverall, everything was good. I would just maybe suggest some nicer pillows. The ones in our room were very thin.
The location was great for getting to know Belém. It was easy to get to most of the main attractions--about a 10 minute walk to the fort and cathedral, for example, and a short Uber ride to the Docks. The building itself, a renovated school, was nicely restored.

PortugalCleaning could be better for 5 star hotel in times of pandemic crisis. In five days my room had good cleaning only once, without changing towels and only one shampoo for 5 days. Many mosquitos in my room the first night had to pass hours to kill them.
Good breakfast with a lot of fruits. The location is close to the river and parks, and relatively close to the old town and restaurants. Small restaurant with good quality food, a nice landscape and live music on Saturdays. Small SPA. Small swinging pool inside a nice garden. Cable TV with netflix. Good shower.
