Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaMy arrival to Belize was after the ferry closed and the air flights from Belize to San Pedro was closed also. So I had to stay overnight in Belize at the Best Western Hotel. I had reservations at the Mata Rock Resort from Monday to Friday. I was charged for Monday even though I was not able to check in till Tuesday. That was a large disappointment for me to pay for a day that was not a stay and out of my control and the Resort had a big vacancy during that week.
Good breakfast good location.

United States of AmericaIt was a little tired but for the price, amazing. The property has just been sold and the Restaurant ran out of essentials but there are so many gear choices for eating this was not a big problem. The wonderful staff, more than made up for the owners.
Fabulous location and great value for money. The Staff were amazing.

CanadaHearing the pickle ball courts and people playing early in the mornings, would be the only negative if your room is situated near it. Wifi does not work in the rooms, but the signal is stronger outside of the rooms and the restaurant/bar and on the balcony.
Feels like a family. Staff are very close and get to know each person staying at the property and are very friendly and welcoming. The pool and beach are are wonderful and the room was lovely with an ocean view. Javier, the bartender makes exceptional drinks and is very professional, in a fun and welcoming way. The staff all around, in all positions, work as a team, and ensure guests have the best stay. And we certainly did. We feel like we made friends for a lifetime at this hotel and are already planning our next stay at Mata Rocks. We loved that bikes, paddle boards, kayaks and pickle ball courts are available and included in the stay. As well, they have paid and fast laundry service too. The chefs make the best food! I highly recommend eating at the hotel, or eating at the inexpensive taco stand across from the hotel after 6pm…so good! We can’t wait to go back and stay at this property! The locals at nearby apartments and hotels all flock to this property for the great and genuine vibes. The atmosphere is intoxicating and so welcoming.

United States of AmericaWe understand that the property is up for sale. Evidently, the owners are not wanting to spend any expenditures on repairing items. The cable equipment wasn't working. The cable box was replaced, but Evidently, there was something wrong with the replacement. There was something wrong with the blinds on one of the entry windows. A curtain or a shower curtain was hung over the window. What looked like a smoke detector bracket was missing the smoke detector. The 3 table stools are very unsafe and only have 3 legs on them. They are top heavy, which makes them unsafe to sit on them. We had a staff member bring us some chairs to sit on.
Staff was great. They were very helpful and outgoing

United States of AmericaThe property have a lot of potential but is in need of upkeep. The floor tiles in the bed room are loose, counter in the kitchen could use some paint and the door to the room doesn’t close properly. The property in general does not not correspond with the price charged for the rooms. We spoke to several guests who were disappointed about the standard of the rooms and the property and the amount paid for their stay compared to other hotels in the area. All staff was welcoming.
The room had a nice bed and a small kitchen and a balcony.

United States of AmericaThe Pool is a little sad and if you're expecting to center your stay around pool time, you won't be happy with the pool. It's small, shallow, and there are not chaises around it. Also, the wifi was quite spotty in our rooms. It always worked great outside at the bar/ restaurant or even just by the pool, but sometimes it didn't work at all in the rooms, and other times it was fine in the rooms. Neither of these things bothered us much at all. We weren't there for the pool or the wifi.
We were very pleased with our stay at Mata Rocks. We had friends staying at the Victoria House which is essentially the next resort over and much more pricey. They didn't have room but we were thrilled with our decision. We saved money and loved Mata Rocks. It is super clean, the beds are very comfortable, although we only ate breakfast there, it was really really good. Everyone was beyond nice, we LOVED the pickle ball courts, and the location at the south end of the island (and next to the pricier Victoria House) is the best on the island. Also, there is a new Argentine restaurant essentially across the street that is absolutely delicious, really stand out, special food. We were a group of foodies from NY and LA and all said if it was a restaurant in NY or LA it would be one of our favorites. If you're looking for a nice, comfortable, safe, clean, friendly place in a great location this is your spot.

United States of AmericaNo fridge in the room. Weak WiFi in rooms but good out on the deck. Only allowed one beach towel at a time. Would like to have coffee machine in the room rather than wait until after 7am for someone to start the automatic drip pot at the bar.
Water views, good room size and very comfortable beds and pillows. Easy access up and down the beach. Walk to town in 15 minutes. Very friendly staff.

United States of AmericaSwimming is off a dock as the water close to shore has a lot of seaweed. The hotel pool is seawater and is not big enough to swim in. But, it is great for having a dip and cool off.
We stayed at the hotel in the off season and there were not many people staying, so the hotel restaurant was not open for the first night of our stay. However, the hotel helped us find a small restaurant close by that served delicious jerk chicken. The second day of our stay the restaurant opened. The hotel staff were very friendly and dealt with our concerns promptly. For example we wanted a mini fridge, so they brought one in. Our security box was locked, so they opened it. San Pedro has become very noisy because of the hundreds of golf carts that drive around it. I appreciated that Mata Rocks was located further out from central San Pedro and was quiet. A huge bonus for me is the free bicycles that Mata Rocks allows its guests to borrow.

United States of AmericaBe careful of just a few ants in the bathroom.
The resort was great. It's is a nice intimate place where you can actually get to know your neighbors. The staff all worked really hard to make you feel welcome. They picked us up from the boat shuttle which was a great surprise and we were greeted with a welcome drink. They also helped us a rent a golf cart (which is a must). The views are pretty. Note there is not an area to swim but the hotel is in a great location. Also there is a nice bar at the hotel where we had some of the best salsa and chips. The hotel also offers bikes, board games and has a pickle bar court.

United States of AmericaThe room needed upgrading. This was one of the cheaper rooms with 2 beds. Door on the bathroom was designed to be a pocket door, but they replaced is with a swing-in door that hit your knees while sitting on to toilet. A/C was old and went out twice. There was a small refrigerator, but there was room for a microwave, but they didn't have one. TV stopped working.
Staff was wonderful. Very friendly and room very clean. Lunch's at the bar were very good.
