The accommodations were comfortable and it was certainly quiet. I must have been a little late for breakfast the first morning because there was no one there. I had cereal, which was just fine. The second morning, I met the manager, who was very nice and he made a fine, cooked breakfast. It's only a few minutes' walk from the main street in Bushmills, so it's very convenient.

The Afallon and adjacent parking was easy to find. Host Iun greeted us, answered all our questions and provided a helpful binder of information. The cozy room was beautifully appointed and the bed very comfortable with fresh crisp linens. Overall, it was a lovely stay!

The only place to put your clothes and bags is a flimsy clothes rack, a kind of wall-less closet. There are almost no horizontal surfaces in the room except the window sill. The bed is right under the window, and the plastic holder with the hotel information fell onto my head from the window sill when I tried to open the shade while I was in bed. There was a fairly bright green light, with no apparent off switch, that shone down from the ceiling all night, so the room was too bright for me. The TV is attached to the wall beside the bed, so you can’t watch it if you’re in bed. There's one chair in the room, which can’t be put in front of the TV because there’s no room for it. The room was very cold the first night. It was 40 °F (4 °C) out, but the heating was off. I asked the front desk twice for a blanket, but I never got one, and no call to explain, or tell me how to use the thermostat. When I returned to the hotel the second night, the man who had checked me in, who subsequently told me he was the owner, was sitting at the front desk. I said, “You didn't get me a blanket last night.” It must have come out more impolite than I had meant, because he replied, “If you talk to me like that I'll deregister you and throw you out on the street!” I was very taken aback. I told him I had asked for a blanket twice, and he replied that it was the housekeeper who was responsible. I went back to my room, but regretting my harsh tone, I went back down to talk to him. He told me that if I had approached him differently, we could have worked something out. He ended up saying he would take £50 off my bill, and I felt somewhat mollified. I haven't received the refund yet, 3 weeks later. As it turned out, there was no housekeeping service on any of the days I was there, no one made up my bed, and rather than leave me a blanket for the third night of my stay, they left another comforter which was so big and bulky it would have been way too hot.
