I'm a bit of a hard grader, so if I give a place a 4 it means I was satisfied and it met expectations. If I give it a five it means exceeded expectations. The Swan met all and exceeded some expectations. I checked in at 11:30 pm/23:30, and to feel truly welcomed at that hour when the innkeeper was also closing the bar means you have excellent staff. And the morning innkeeper also was excellent.

The full English breakfast was just what you’d expect at today's inflated prices. I assume this is a high-margin item for the hospitality industry. Like most breakfast places, it seems it is the first job for young people; tentative, a little fearful, and not anticipating customers’ needs. Not unique to The Swan.

The location was great. We wanted to feel part of the community vs travelers. There was great grocery shopping all around, neighborhood pubs/taverns and very close to a tube station. Our view from the apartment/balcony was great especially at night. The space was a good size for 4 of us. It was nice having a complete kitchen with all the food shopping around us.

The seating in the living room could have been better. Only one couch for all 4 of us, which was very, very uncomfortable. The front desk staff was not prepared for our stay, even though we got there an hour early. We went to a pub during that time and still nothing was prepared to make things quicker. The site said toiletries would be provided but only one tiny set for two of us for a week. The toilet paper was poor quality and ran out quickly. We were told that no more of either would be provided and needed to replenish on our own. The bathrooms were a good size but the tub/shower in the master was very high, awkward for a shorter person but would be impossible for an elderly or disabled individual.

The room was great. It is essentially a 1 br apartment. You have a tv in the living room and a tv in the bedroom. The WiFi worked great and it has a fridge also. The shower is amazing. You have a rain shower head and a wand.

It’s right next to all of the strip clubs. So when you come home at night there can be some shadier people in the area.

The room was above a bar/restaurant so we could eat anytime they were open. It was located in the city centre so everything was in walking distance.

Parking was limited to two cars only; otherwise street parking would have to be found in an otherwise congested area. Breakfast was not included and had to be purchased seperately. So WHY is it considered a B & B?

Great location, nicely furnished , washing machine, dryer, welcome pack (tea, coffee, sugar, shortbread biscuits). Off road parking onsite.
