Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomRoom next door to a building site with drilling and use of heavy equipment all day from 8-5. Very very noisy. Pool area very enclosed.
After having booked a couple of hotels that had not been what we expected decided to phone and visit first. Receptionist unhelpful and put phone down on me despite speaking good English. Large Room two comfortable beds and good size very Clean. Did laundry for reasonable cost. Very close to great beach.

United States of AmericaOverpriced and overrated food . 22 US dollars for 2 average tacos . Better places to stay in grande with much better restaurants in area. Breakfast burrito was something out of a kids meal and not a meal for adult surfers.
Location and one of the 2 pools on N side of property.

CanadaIt is a bit pricey for the size of the room but otherwise, it's a great option if you want to be close to the beach.
The property is close to the beautiful Playa Grande and the grounds are beautiful. There are two pools and each room has a nice hammock to chill in. Despite being right next to the road, it's very peaceful, and the gardens make you feel like you are in a lush environment. The yoga studio is also very beautiful and spacious.

United States of AmericaThe hotel room was comfortable, but the shower in the room often turned from hot to cold and back again- making it difficult to have a constant temperature when one showered. We were also in a room near the street and were awakened at 5:30am a few times by people parking and getting their surfboards and other equipment out as they headed toward the beach.
The food at the hotel's restaurant was very delicious and there was a good variety of items on the menu. The hotel staff at both the restaurant and the hotel office were wonderful. They were all very pleasant, courteous, and extremely helpful. Jose and Irene in the restaurant, and Angie and David in the office were particularly exceptional in the personal service and assistance they provided us. We really enjoyed interacting with the hotel staff.

CanadaAt reception upon checkin, when asked about local shops and restaurants, we were told there was nothing around, only what the hotel offered. Thankfully, we discovered very quickly that was not the case. Pool and restaurant hours could be extended, especially on nights when there was live music.
We had the pleasure of staying at RipJack in mid December and loved it! The room was big and spacious with a good-sized fridge and great AC! The pool was right outside our door, and it was nice to have a table and chairs on our wee patio. The coffee and water stations were a bonus, as well as the communal hammocks and ping-pong table. We also enjoyed the happy hour cocktails almost daily, super delicious! & the food at the restaurant was also very good. The hotel had the perfect location to the amazing beach and little village, and we loved the quietness of the area and the lack of people.

United States of AmericaVery, very noisy. We stayed previous year and was not as bad. There was a private birthday party that was super loud..we expected a quiet retreat, but not that at all. Kitchen above rooms was very noisy as well until at least 10pm. Early beach goers park close and make lots of noise.
Staff were super friendly and helpful. Servers were the best, especially Sonya & Myra! Grounds were kept spotless by Anna. The reception staff were very pleasant too. Close to beach.

United States of AmericaThe rooms are a bit dated, and there was very limited storage space for your clothes.
Great location, walking distance to a huge beach, with a nice bar and restaurant up in the trees. The grounds are lovely, with two pools, and they provide gear for the beach (chairs, boogie boards) which is great. The rooms are large and have comfortable beds.

AustraliaWas very expensive for what it was. Especially the restaurant! Really overpriced, small and disappointing meals. We had been 14 years before and it was a real surf hub which sadly it’s lost any feeling of. Doesn’t really feel like you’re in Costa Rica anymore either.
Great location and nice comfortable, clean room. Small but nice pool.

United States of Americaon line booking needs to state a little clearer that the villas are located down the street, 5 minute walk away. With a locked gate, so when my parents walked down from the hotel to visit they could not get in with their hotel key, to visit my family in the hotel villas, unless you met them at the gate. However at check in we were told that the villas were a walk a away. I just wish I knew that at booking time.
Staff very nice. Food was delicious in the restuarant. We ate dinner & breakfast there. Our rooms were nice, but far apart. Pool was nice to relax by, there are outdoor showers to rinse off at when coming back from the beach, that was nice too.
