To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

LithuaniaWe have stayed in this hotel around 8 years ago, and today everything looks the same - as it was opened just yesterday. The hotel is made in traditional German style and there you will find all authentic details. Very nice breakfast and very gentle personal. It is located a bit far away from Essen center, but that is only an advantage. It is located in very quite and cosy district, arount you can find the forest to go for a walk, good restourants near by and small cosy “center” where you can find the shops, CAFE and etc.

NorwayThe hotel rooms need a spruce badly. Things like the bathroom are very out of date and though clean, past their "lifetime". Maybe when better days come back for tourism, it'll change One big fat no no for me though was that the staff obviously smokes in their back office but you smell it in the entire house and on occasion in the rooms and that's not pleasant.
Super friendly and accommodating staff. The room was clean every day. The WiFi worked very well. Breakfast was good.

Superb breakfast - it would be difficult to improve on the level of service and selection/quantity of food available. There are at least 2 restaurants close by offering decent food for evening meals. Off street parking is available just outside the hotel. The owner is very friendly and gives 100% to her guests. Serving and attending to the guests is obviously a point of pride.

United KingdomWe had to turn on the radiators in our room. The breakfast is a bit over-rated but well presented and would.have benefitted from fresh bread etc.
This was our second to Gasteb, visit but without a rental car. The 30 min walk from Werden suited us and although we requested a quiet room, we note that the road in front of the hotel is now not so busy. Some rooms have a good view to the rear overlooking the garden.
