This place was so incredibly tranquil! After spending about a week in the bigger cities, this was the perfect place to recharge our batteries. The views were great (especially from our private patio); the pool was extraordinarily refreshing; the hike down to town was just what the doctor ordered to get a sense of the area; the hike up into the mountains on our second day was wonderful. Our hosts could not have been more helpful, friendly, courteous, and welcoming.

This is a fantastic and beautiful place to stay, we wish we could stay longer. The rooms are nicely decorated inside and then there is a beautiful private terrace outside your room too. Breakfast was great with all local produce.

Welcoming host with a great command of English. The property is on the hill, which requires some walking to be done towards the village, travelling by car is recommended, but walk is a short. The views from the terrace were beautiful. Breakfast was good and there was an option for dinner as well at a reasonable price. The apartments are not heated and as we stayed in winter we were provided with heater, which was plenty enough given warm blankets.

A peaceful rural retreat with wonderful hosts, Enrique and Ana. We had dinner there on our first night and it was wonderful as were the breakfasts. We had a platter in our room the next night but there are plenty of good restaurants to go to in Capileira. We walked down through Bubion to Pampaneira and caught an Alsa bus back. A great break from the city life of Seville and Granada. I swam in the pool too.

What a fantastic hidden piece of paradise! Absolutely gorgeous guesthouse, the views from the room terrace were out of this world - over the mountains and the valley. Enrique and his lovely family (and doggie) were so welcoming and amazing hosts. We were even lucky to catch a flamenco show at the restaurant downstairs. The breakfast was all homemade, even jams and yoghurt, and was one of the best i ever had in my life. Its on the outskirts of the village so is about 15 min walk into the centre and up hill can be a bit tricky if you carrying luggage or you're not used to walking terrains or up hill. Enrique was so kind to meet us from our bus and drive up for check in but when we went into town later, it wasn't that bad, just be prepared for it and take it slow! Its perfect really, big thank you!!! Don't want to leave!

Peaceful, great location for travelling to the villages of the Alpujarras. Breakfast with homemade bread and jams, local ham, cheese and yogurt was excellent and we dined there on our first night and had a wonderful steak meal at a very reasonable cost.

The whole trip to this hotel was brilliant - the location is simply amazing (the views over the mountains, even the lights of Africa in the distance), and beautiful green hills around the hotel. The team at the hotel are excellent, and we were very well looked after. They were friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. Definitely would come and stay again.

I was looking forward to tasting Enrique's cooking as I had read it is amazing in previous reviews, but in the end at the time we were there, dinners were not served, unfortunately.

The isolation, the view, our room had a cute balcony and it was really nice. Enrique and Anna are really nice and my daughter had fun with their lovely daughters Helena and Natalia. Breakfast was splendid with home made marmelade and bread and facing the awesome view.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location was beautiful with amazing views of the mountains. The breakfast was delicious with local cheese, tasty bread, homemade pumpkin pie, and more. Access road is unsafe in a conventional car. However, this is not solely responsibility of host. A long way to walk to Capileira. Limited options for evening meal in Capileira but visited 'out of season'.

There are lots of beautiful places to stay in Capileira and the surrounding area and many of them are less expensive, but Cortijo Catifalarga offers something very special. We have spent months in apartments in the area on previous trips, but wanted to experience a Cortijo holiday. It allowed us to enjoy a peaceful retreat even in the middle of a big holiday in Spain (day of the dead). The views from our secluded balcony were beautiful, and we were not in the room with the best views (we chose a bigger room with a smaller balcony). Enrique and Ana are perfect hosts - great service with no fuss, for us it’s perfect. Breakfast is lovely- always something different over our 8-day stay. We had some fantastic evening meals- steak/tuna with great starters- e.g. stuffed peppers, croquetas, amuse bouche of aubergine and toast, other nights we had the best chicken tagine ever- much better than the ones we have had in Granada. Coming from Valencia, Enrique knows how to cook rice. He made us a delicious rice with prawns and cuttlefish. Ana is a fantastic baker. As my dad was a baker, I’m really fussy, but all Ana’s baking and her jams are excellent. We will definitely return! Thank you Enrique and Ana.

Lovely rural location with fantastic views from our outside terrace. Food was excellent with authentic Spanish delicious meals served for evening meal. Good location for walking and visiting lovely mountain villages. Most of all our hosts were welcoming and helpful in every way during our stay and could not do enough for us making it a wonderful stay for us both.
