Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Everything was fine. :-)
The location is very convenient - very close to the city centre. But the best is the tram station just next to the hostel. The tram goes straight to the train station or other parts of the city. I love the sauna in the hostel, which is free of charge in the morning. I felt there like staying in a hotel, not a hostel.

One of the very rare hostel that doesn’t offer shower gel in the shower.

There were no hooks or shelves in the shared bathroom where you could put your clothes while showering. The mattresses were rather hard, but we slept well anyway :)
The location is absolutely perfect! We arrived by boat from Stockholm, and it was only a 10-minute walk from the ferry to the hostel. The neighbourhood is calm and safe, and in a mere 20 minute pleasant walk you're in front of Helsinki's iconic white cathedral.

A nice decent hostel. Located near a tram stop op. So commuting around the city and airport is easy. Not too far from all the attractions. Friendly and helpful staff. Quite neighborhood. Clean bathrooms.

The shared bathroom is quite small. There is no hanger available inside the shower room and you can only hang all your clothes at the hangers outside. The shower head is also not adjustable.
The location of this hostel is almost at the end of tram line no. 4, where its surrounding is queit and less crowded with tourists. You can board the tram towards city centre with less crowded inside the tram.

Reception area, corridors and bathrooms seem recent, but the room smelled (and looked) like an old convent and is in DIRE need of renovation. There are NO LOCKS on the shower stalls!
Less than 5 min from the ferry terminal, which was ideal for me. Also 1 min away from a tram stop. Staff really nice. Restaurant within the building is ok. Not so many options on the menu but everything is under 12€.

Helsinki is preety not interesting city so location is not so important where the hostel is but i would wish of it had more things to do around

The door of the shower room is useless. No privacy and the water is spilling everywhere. There are only three toilets in one floor which are not enough.
I like the size of my single room, wide and comfortable. The price is also good with the single room! It is hard to find the price of the hotel in Helsinki. Also sauna is included in the hostel and make this trip worthier than I expected.

It was good. No problems.
I liked that the room only had 3 beds and had not been crammed full of bunks. It was very spacious and plenty of storage for backpack. Good to have facilities to make own cup of tea and meals without having to pay extra. The location to the tram is perfect and also if you feel like it, walking to the city centre is also an easy option.

halls were a bit dark. maybe because it was already night time when i arrived but all is good just a little spooky as it looks like it was previously a hospital of sort.
Clean room, location is very close to the ferry if you are going to take the Victoria ferry. The other ferry station is on the other side of the city so have to take a cab or tram. There's also a bar or eatery so you can have a place to hangout for the night.

This is only a 30minute walk from the train station and is located perfectly along the dock/harbour. It’s clean,comfy and when I stayed in April nice and quiet. The bathrooms are fantastic with complimentary forest bird sounds. I stayed in a 3 bed female dorm and it was a very very decent size,also no bunk beds,woooohoooo. Staff are lovely especially Welma (dog) and Robert. Really pleasant to chat to and welcoming.
