Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe only thing we had difficulty was parking. We went in May, which is a shoulder season, but we found it hard to find a spot in the closest free parking (George had already warned us about this). However, when we came to the hotel late or decide to move the car post dinner time, we were always able to find a spot. Just keep this in mind to avoid disappointment and mentally prepare yourself to be flexible.
In short, if you’re contemplating where to stay in Chania, just stay here. We are definitely coming back when we’re back in Chania. George, the owner, was the best part of our trip in Chania. He was kind, helpful and very responsive. He will ensure you feel welcomed and have the best time in Chania. He looked up the weather for the destinations we want to visit to help us plan our itinerary and he prepared us a printed map of Chania with handwritten recommendations of his favorite restaurants. He even moved us to a room with a nicer view on the second night. The rooms are also super clean and had a great view of the old port if you’re on the first floor and above. You get daily top up of Nespresso pods, which is a nice touch. The hotel is also located at a very beautiful and quiet part of the old town, which is nice as you can get away from all the hustle and bustle. But everything is still within walking distance. If you’re contemplating where to stay, just stay here, as you won’t regret it!

United States of AmericaNot much, it was a most pleasureable stay. If we find ourself back in Chania, we know where we will stay.
Location was great. Could view a glimpse of the sea from the window. Short walk the port, restaurants, lighthouse, etc. George was amazing, asked every time we approached if we needed something and gave the best recommendations for food, etc… even beyond our time in Chania. He was a pleasure to be around. He even walked with us to get a taxi from the hotel to taxi pick up.

United States of AmericaThe room was a little small and the bed was a little hard. But George put some padding on the mattress which helped a lot.
George, the grandson running the hotel, is wonderful. He was so helpful, not only making sure that I had everything I needed at the hotel, but also arranged the excursions I wanted too. I left feeling that I have a good friend in Chania now. I had a nice view of the harbor past some rooftops. It was a great location in the Old Town, convenient to everything.

CanadaIt is an ancient building so the rooms are small and not very sound proof.
George is a terrific host. He is helpful and truly concerned about his guests. He is also jovial and a pleasure to talk to.

United Kingdom-
My room overlooked the harbour - an amazing view. The room was very clean and had everything I needed. George was exceptional - he went above and beyond his professional duties to make sure my break went as smoothly as possible. I had booked the hotel based on a friend’s recommendation of the both the view and George’s excellent welcome and service.

IndiaGeorge was very helpful. He helped us with all the information we would need for an amazing stay at chania including food suggestions and travel tips. Can get a bit noisy from the festive old town as the hotel is right in the middle of it, but that also makes the town so charmigly accessible Overall the stay was pretty comfortable.

United KingdomThe description on booking.com undersells the place, it is better than expected
Incredible location 2 minutes walk away from the Venetian harbour. Room included a fridge, coffee machine (pods replaced daily) and decent shower products. Great view out over the harbour. George on the reception desk went above and beyond to recommend us places to see in Chania and further afield in Crete. For the price the hotel is a bargain, spotlessly clean rooms, with beds made up every day and super close to everything in Chania.

This hotel is in the perfect location overlooking the Venetian harbour and my room had one of the best views I have ever had out of a hotel window. But what really makes this hotel so exceptional, is George, who runs the hotel for his family. When I arrived, I had left my suitcase at a shop several streets away and George actually came back with me to collect my case. He was the perfect host, showed me up to my room and explained how everything worked. He was also brilliant at helping me plan my stay, sorting out bus timetables, opening times and locations of all the places I wanted to visit. George's knowledge and help made a huge difference it really enabled me to get the very best out of my visit. And I also enjoyed practising my Greek with him!

CanadaThere was nothing we did not like.
It is a boutique hotel built in the Venetian era. The hotel is in the old town a short walk to everywhere we wanted to go. We had a room with a view of the beautiful harbour, which highlighted our trip to Chania. George and Chrysa were engaging, personable and so helpful. George gave a list of restaurants and the ones we tried were all excellent. We are only sad that we had to leave Chania without trying all his recommendations.
