Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The first room was not renovated and we really didn't like it. It was also very close to the lobby where people were smoking all the time and the smoke got into our room. The hotel parking is really small and sometimes we had to argue with parking attendants to get a spot as they would tell us it's full. It's almost impossible to find street parking, so you really need this hotel parking to accommodate your car.
When we got a different room on the second floor, it was ok: some renovations have been done in it and it didn't look as old as the first one.

The bathroom lights are operated with a sensor and kept turning off after a few minutes. The cleaner still went into the room despite the “Do not disturb” instruction at the door

Air con was blowing directly on the bed and we didn't know how to alter the swing fan direction. Too hot without it but too cold with it on
Comfortable and cosy. Only a short 5 min walk to the old town. Really helpful and friendly staff. Free garage parking under the hotel.

Really friendly family business that took care of us really well. The rooms are cozy and have a good standard (good beds, aircon, locker, room service everyday, balcony with sea view). The city center is 10min by walking. A lot of cafés around and a really nice park in front of the hotel. The historic café Kipos is worth a visit. Recommended.

No lift to car park.
Located just outside the old town, in a shopping street. Opposite a park. Comfortable room, excellent bathroom, nice balcony. Free parking in underground garage.

The room was facing the street, which seemed to be quite busy - even at night. Unfortunately, balcony door was opposite of soundproof. It was quite loud at times - I had to use earplugs to be able to sleep.
Good location - close to the Old Town; the staff was friendly; room was exactly as on pictures. Barring some small issues (nothing that could really bother), the room was also clean.

2 single beds stuck together instead of a double size bed. Next to the hotel there is a club so there is nose until early in the morning

Cleaning wasn't well done The receptionists not very interested
It's located near the centre, in a quiet place. The room was spacious enough with a balcony, great AC, a fridge and wifi. The hotel is nicely refurbished but the cleaning wasn't 100%. Very good price for a week stay

The rooms are not Soundproofed and there was a lot of noise from people coming back to their rooms late at night slamming their room doors and talking very loudly by the lift near our Room. These are just selfish people and you get them everywhere in the World unfortunately. We didn't sleep well for the 2 nights we were here but this wouldn't prevent us from staying here again, and, next time, I'll bring Earplugs and ask for a room far away from the Lift/Elevator!
We liked almost everything about this lovely Hotel with really nice staff, particularly, Paul and Ivan on the front desk. The underground Car Park was great as parking in Chania in peak season can be a problem with a Hire Car. There are a lot of shops close to the Hotel and it is opposite a lovely Park in a One Way Street (note to Drivers with cars). Our SatNav told us the Hotel was by the Park on our "Right Hand" side but it is on the Left Hand side and the entrance to the underground Car Park is easy to miss... It is just before you reach the entrance to the Hotel on your Left Hand side. We didn't eat Breakfast at the Hotel and went out instead for Breakfast as there are so many places close to the Hotel in which to eat. Great view from our Balcony and the Hotel is closer to the old Port than we expected. This might sound silly but the Bedding and Towels smelt very nice (like my washing at home) and fresh. The Room was very clean. Really good Shower too! Aircon. worked very well. We would definitely book again at Ellinis Hotel.
