Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IsraelWe received a cottage that is almost in none of the photos. It was old and authentic, but had no shower, no hot water and the beds were couches, matresses, definitely not suitable for 5 people inc kids. Also, the linen fee is too high.
The location is off the beaten path, secluded and authentic, amidst a bird colony and wild view. The road there is not for the weak of heart :)

Netherlandssheets towel fee way too expensive. this is not specified at time of booking. this makes the value for money bad. fee for cleaning also high. can quickly be done yourself but cleaning by previous guest was not checked properly.
unique location in the middle of a bird colony. Very cosey cottage near the beach. Good host. She has a galery with self created icelandic art/clothing.

BelgiumThere was a strong sewage smell coming from the toilet. It made the first floor smell. It was a bit cold in the house although it had heaters. We couldn’t make the bedroom dark, curtains are white and transparent. As it’s summer there is daylight all night. Problem solved if you bring eye masks :). It is a nice authentic house. If you don’t expect much comfort it’s ok. The surroundings are stunning enough.
Stunning views of the fjords when the sun comes out. Extremely windy but ok if you are prepared. Very authentic small houses. The house had very low ceilings which is not a problem if you are not tall. Our house was approximately 50mts from the beach. We slept on the top floor, three mattresses on the floor and a bed which was cosy. We didn’t use the bed/sofa downstairs to sleep. Handy kitchen. Great drives to visit cliffs and puffins. Distances are big to closest supermarket, town, red beach or cliffs but the drives are really beautiful. Being so secluded is part of the charm.

SloveniaIt's ok that the linen and towels are to be paid for extra, that is written when you book the place. But we found it very difficult to accept that if you don't pay, you don't even get any blankets. Since the heating is not strong enough for the place, we were actually quite cold at night, despite layers of clothes and sleeping bags. The bathroom is a bit basic so not for the high maintenance people.
The host was really kind enough to wait for our late check-in. The location is top notch and the cottage perfect for a couple. We were a group of 4 so a bit tight but still ok. The location of our cottage was just by the beach with breathtaking views.

IcelandThe rent of the bedsheets and towel is overpriced(2800kr). We brought our towels and bed cover but still had to rent and pay for the whole pack. No internet connection inside the apartment at all :/
Amazing view, quite and peaceful land. Cozy houses.

ItalyBed linen (pillows/duvets and towels) have to be bought on top of the accommodation rate, and they are not the cheapest. I'd suggest to put the linen cost in the rate of the cottage and give them included in the accommodation. Lack of hot running water, but it was a minor issue.
Location was amazing, the cottage itself is old style but very charming! It brings you in a place distant in the space and in the time, the house was amazingly furnished as an old cottage of 1940, we loved it!

AustriaThe only negative thing I could say is that the mattress were very thin.
The cottage was clean and the kitchen well equipped. It is basically in the middle of nowhere but we knew that before and brought enough food and a good book :)

PolandFor a very tall people - it will be a challenge to not hit their head all the time :) As for the old days cottage - you will hear everything - even if somebody change their sides during the sleep in the room above you - so please be prepare for that.
The location is extremely remote, you need to drive a long time to get there! But this is what we wanted. The cottage itself is from the good old days. There is a toilett in the cottage, but the showers are in the separate building. No hot water in the cottage. It was well equipped with the kitchen accessories - there was everything what we needed. The place has it's own atmosphere, and if you are willing to make some small adjustments - you will enjoy it!
