We had a double bed - but could get on the bed only from one side. This could be an issue for someone, as need to go over the other person to reach the other side if someone is already sleeping. Would have loved to have a microwave in the kitchen There is a small distance between the parking and the cottage, where the bags can't be rolled, but need to be lifted. Not an issue for us, but could be for people who can not carry heavy items. We had two cottages. The distance between the cottages is decent - that allows for privacy, but that also means that you have to put on jackets/coats/shoes to go from one cottage to other.

Excellent location. There was a river on one side and snow covered mountains in the distance. The other side was a forest. We were in the midst of nature. Nice kitchen with basic utensils, stove top, fridge, hot water kettle, dishes and cutlery. A living room with sofa and TV. Everything was compact, but amenities were there. WiFi was better than what was available at many hotels. Wish we had more time to stay at this place and enjoy the nature.

Excellent view of the Lagarfljót river. It was very easy to get to and allowed me to go to Hengifoss on the way. The facilities were excellent and very clean. Voks Bath was just short drive away. I would highly recommend Ormurinn Cottages.

The view from the cottage was beautiful, but it was blocked by the fact that there were so much moisture in the double pane windows on the front of the cottage that you couldn’t see the view. Those windows need to be replaced.

The location of this property is perfect. Right on the lake with great views. Parking was easy.

There was the emergency light in the living room where the sofa bed was. It was ok, but definitely a minus. I understand that it was a mandatory sing, but in a small room with only one exit i think it was not necessary

Perfect for a couple who does want to have a romantic night in a cottage. Very cute. We were a group of 4 friends and it was more than ok for a night stop along the ring road

Honestly, everything was great. The only thing that could have been better is the layout of the bedroom as the bed was against the wall forcing one of us to go over the other one the get up.

As we were driving by the airport, we saw these strange looking houses on the other side of the lake and were hoping we would be staying in one of those. It was the case. We managed to get in super easily thanks to the code provided. We were lucky to have a nice and sunny day which added points to the amazing view. The kitchen is well equiped and the bathroom is correct.

Well equipped and clean. Not very big but enough for a family of 3. We booked this in a very last minute as the road towards north was closed due to snowstorm. The host has been very helpful and try to provide us as many information as possible. We felt safe staying in this cozy little cabin.

We loved the layout of the cottage. It is romantically placed right at the lakefront. Even though we were snowed in for three days, we could enjoy our time very much. The kitchen is well equipped. The owner lives close by and was always available by phone to help us out. He even pulled our car out of some deep snow.

The cottage was lovely just a few minutes drive from the main shops/restaurants. Amazing location and the cottage was very clean, warm and sufficient amenities. We were stuck in Egilsstadir due to a storm but we could still exit despite the heavy snow. The owner was super helpful when I called about road closures and also came with a digger and shovel to remove the deep snow after the storm in late March. I travelled the ring road and this stay was my favourite

This was a very comfortable and spacious self-contained cottage - we were fortunate to be lakeside which was also really nice. It was great not being too close to the other cottages as it gave the feeling of being on our own in the countryside.

I don’t know if this could be helped, but the combination of the super-bright emergency exit light and the patio floodlight, which could not be turned off, made seeing anything other than the glare of these two lights impossible at night. I would have much preferred seeing the stars and the lights of the city.

The location is beautiful, just across the water from the town and the stand-alone cabin offered plenty of privacy.

It was a little hard to see where to drive in the morning, with the ice and snow which had accumulated overnight. I wonder if "road pole" style markers could be employed for guests in winter? But no major complaints!

What a glorious little place, of the 6 places we stayed on our ring road trip, this was the best for me. STUNNING view of Egilsstaðir across the lake. The town itself is just the right distance away, so you are out of town but not too far for amenities and stores. The room felt spacious and well equipped. The third bed being made up on arrival was much appreciated. Warm even in deep winter, with additional heaters provided (we didn't need them but good to have the option). The bathroom was perfect for our needs. All things considered it is hard to imagine it being improved - sure, it's a basic cabin, but it's a basic cabin done right.
