The place feels quite dated and it is clearly apparent that not much money has been invested in recent years. The windows let through some noise, the TV barely functioned and the bed was quite small and tight.

The place is really close to the border between Latvia and Estonia which means that you can easily visit both and it is suitable even if your main place of visit is Valga. I had never bothered with searching for places in Valka when staying in Valga, but on short notice this was the cheapest. The owner arrived promptly after my ring and the service was very nice!

Shower didn't drain well, good thing it did not overflow but almost. Also not much of a shower head, water kind of falls almost like from a tap. A tea kettle would be great to have.

Reasonably priced, central, close to the supermarkets on the Estonian side. Good to have a pleasant place to stay in Valka. Well organized check-in. Good selection of TV channels even if the TV set was bit old.

The shower didn't drain well and the water pressure felt more like a hose than a shower. There's also no fridge in the room, which is fine but you will need to plan for.

Straightforward check-in and there are en suite bathrooms. Central location in Valka, although that means that amenities in Valga are often 15-30 min away by foot. This guesthouse has everything you need for a short stay in Valka/Valga.

Frankly this is a cool little guest house. A nice cozy place with adequate rooms for a couple of nights. It was very quiet when I was there, which I enjoyed thoroughly. Responsive English-speaking staff.

Some maintenance could be done in the room, for example, fix the doorknob on the bathroom door but other than that, everything was great.

The location is very suitable if you want to get around on foot. We loved our room's little kitchen area where we could make ourselves some breakfast. Also, having a private entrance was a nice bonus.

Not that easy to find the place, due to missing roadname in the street and a main entrance not facing the address road but a crossing one. Quite far away from the railway and (estonian) bus station but worth the walk.

Nice and cosy small hotel with a very kind and attendant host. Fine breakfast. Short distance to the boarder as well as the city at both sides of it.

It would be great to have a double set of towels (4 pcs instead of 2). I honestly did not have the idea to ask for it because I had some errands to be done and then I was too tired. I am sure they would give me 2 additional pcs without problems :)

It's the second time I stop by in Otra Elpa but again it has been a positive surprise. The host is a very nice and polite young woman who arrived immediately to show me the room as I arrived. Room was very good with window to the inner courtyard where I parked my car safely. Very comfortable in term of temperature: you can regulate the radiator and you can use the comfortable opening window to get fresh air according to your desire. Bathroom was clean. Thank you again for the nice staying. Great value for money and I am sure I will be back in case I need to be in Valka and Valga next year.

A bit noisy surroundings with music and talking late in the evening. The cabin of the shower could not be closed perfectly so that it was not possible to avoid water on the floor.

Lack of character of the place, but not really important if you don't mind these kind of things.

One of the very few accomodations in the Latvian side of Valka, generous breakfast, helpful lady in the deskfront who allowed me to use the kitchen to keep my stuff.
