Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaIt didn’t feel super clean or comfortable, and we didn’t like that there weren’t lockers in the rooms. The only way to lock up valuables was in a flimsy locked wooden shed in the back courtyard. Didn’t exactly inspire confidence, but we didn’t have a choice so we left our valuables there, and it was all fine for a night, but if you’re travelling with valuables, I’d recommend using one of the secure luggage storages around the city instead. Kitchen wasn’t very inviting (we didn’t end up using it), check out was very early at 10am, and the toilet hasn’t been cleaned before we got there.
Location was good- we liked that we could bike/walk to the museum quarter and the old town. We got lucky and had the whole dorm room to ourselves. The balcony was nice. Maybe it’s just cause it’s not quite high season yet but it was pretty quiet while we were there. Hot tip: make sure you bring cash to pay for your stay or they’ll charge an extra 5% for paying with card.

United KingdomThere is no shelving space to put your things and no hooks to put your coat in the room. There is 5% surcharge if you pay with card so best to pay with cash.
I like the location it is very close to the tram station and close to the museums Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum. The bed is comfortable and has a sink inside the room.

SpainNo electric plug near the beds. The stairs of the bunk bed have corners so if you don't wear shoes while climbing it will hurt your feet. The stairs are criminally small in typical Dutch fashion.
Serviceable staff, reasonable rules, the place is overall clean (though I didn't use the bathroom so I don't know about that)

IrelandThere was very little space in both of the room we stayed in. One of the rooms had a roof window that we could not open or close, we had to get someone from the front desk to open or close it. Multiple times it was left open during rain and we were unable to close it in time and all our luggage was soaked.
24 open desk was very useful. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. They were accommodating to us as a large group of ten. Good location. Cash only or there is a 5% charge for using card

Belgium1) Prices fluctuate a lot. The same room we paid 133€ for two nights, was later (after passing the non-cancellation date) 80€ 2) Booking.com doesn't take any pre-payment. So you gotta pay your stay upfront in the hostel. 3) only cash + 10€ key deposit 4) no curtains in the room 5) beds are 1.80m 6) no lockers in the room. Only at the reception for a fee 7) no curtains in the beds for a bit more privacy 8) the window doesn't close/open properly.
1) location-wise it's perfect, close to Museumplein, in a quiet side street 2) staff was friendly 3)overall it's what you get if you don't invest that much for a few days partying in Amsterdam. If you are more willing to spend time in your accomodation then don't go there.

SpainWe felt it was in need of some repairs and not worth what we paid. However we booked our stay the same day so maybe if we had booked it earlier it would have been cheaper.
It was very close to Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum.
