Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We were brutally disturbed in our sleep by the sounding of the fire alarm. And we didn't like the shower. Adjusting the temperature could not reach a constant temperature, fluctuated between very hot and cold. Also, we ourselves found the sink faucet very annoying because you practically could not stay dry when brushing your teeth. Furthermore, the bed was quite hard. The price is based on the location and the size of the room, but too expensive for what we received in terms of comfort.
Beautiful room, enough space. We also had a very nice view. The location was great, in the middle of the city centre. We also liked the staff's appearance and hospitality.

The furnishings in the room, while enjoyably campy, are pretty dated. Everything looks scratched, dented, or worn out, especially the carpet. Be forewarned...the shower alternated wildly between freezing and scalding. Breakfast is the same each day, decent, but not particularly special.
The hotel has a lot of character. Staff were pleasant. Our room had a beautiful water view. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of Leiden, with many restaurants and shops nearby. It's about a fifteen minute walk from the train/bus station. The bed was large and comfortable.

The details. Bathroom a bit small without areation. No shower caps. A kettle not very clean and very few tea bags in the room.

A few more snack facilities in the bedroom would have been appreciated. ie. tea, coffee, teaspoons , milk (instead of dried powdered milk) and perhaps a biscuit or two please.

I won't have breakfast there again. Its very basic, which would be ok for me if the price wasn't 15 Euros.
I new that Nieuw Minerva would provide what I was after - an uncomplicated accommodation close to th city centre. It was resonably quiet and the room had everything I needed. There is little space and I would not recommend my room for an extended stay but for one night it was fine.

The bed is extremely soft to the point you can feel the spring, the room is small and you can hear people on the street quite easily, there are also no elevators available

The noise from the window was incredibly loud and disturbed mine and my friend sleep on both nights. I was also disappointed that the Body wash and shampoo were all in one… for the price of the hotel I would have expected more I think! As an aside - the company we ordered a taxi with (recommended by the hotel) did not come through! Brought this up to staff and they were helpful and understanding…
The bedroom was clean, the location was excellent & the staff friendly and helpful from start to finish.

Our room was a good size but a little dark.
It’s an old hotel right next to the canal with nice bars and pretty streets. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. It’s also not a long walk from the railway station.

The noise from the fan in the bathroom was continuous. The room was advertised as The Comfort Room which was totally misleading. The bed was old and uncomfotble, laminated flooring was cold and the room very sparce. It wasn't very comfortable
