Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Everything was perfect. Walking distance to Museums and Blue Mosque, shops and restaurants all around. Very safe for a solo traveller. The owner Aziz was very hospitable and concerned when I didn't surface for an entire day due to jet-lag and 2 days of walking the Gallipoli Peninsula and no sleep he kept checking up on me to make sure I was OK and didn't need anything. Would highly recommend.

We had a perfect stay at the hotel, nothing to fault. The location is perfect for this hotel with everything at a walking or short public transport journey distance. The owner is very nice and helpful and always greeting with a smile. Highly highly recommend this hotel.

Everething was OK.
The owner Aziz greeted him as long-awaited guests and helped resolve all issues. Competence, attentiveness and cordiality awaits hotel clients. The price-quality ratio is good, the accessibility of historical objects is excellent. I recommend this hotel. Aziz champion!

Well positioned hotel. Aziz is a great host and extremely helpful. Rooms near and clean. 6 min walk to station to get you into city . Very close to authentic Turkish restaurants. Will be back

A fantastic little hotel run by Aziz who went out of his way to make our stay in Istanbul a memorable one. Well situated for some excellent local Turkish cuisine. Definitely will stay again on our next trip to Istanbul.

It would probably be a good idea to let people know before arrival that the desk was not always manned. The receptionist was available by phone or buzzing. Otherwise when you show up late it’s confusing.
It is a basic suite and I had all kinds of ideas for redecorating. However, the room was comfortable. I had two windows over the park. The heater worked well as some evenings were cold. Bed was very comfortable with a duvet. Very clean and the cleaning woman was delightful and patiently waited for me to leave before cleaning. Location was awesome. Easy walk to major sites. I felt very happy and at home. I liked the fact you needed a room card to get into the hotel.

Prompt organisation skill.
Close to all the main attractions, lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. Although, no breakfast at the hotel, there are fresh Pide bakeries, fresh kebab restaurants, supermarkets, laundry, shops, etc. The room has simple facilities, however, it is clean, sound proof, plus the receptionist is very knowledgeable and guides us through different situations. We had a great stay, it was both a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We will definitely recommend the hotel to anyone.

I wish the owner spoke better English.

The only disadvantage is not the property. Is the area has a steep slope to walk up.

It was my first time visiting Istambul, and I never thought that the neighborhood was hilly. For someone with poor knees, climbing up and down to reach the public transport was a struggle for sure. My advice is that if you have luggage with you, just take the taxi to the hotel and not to force yourself to save up and take public transport. And google maps is very helpful to get you around, so make sure you have a mobile data with you when you arrive at the airport.
Overall, it was a great choice to stay at the Sultans Hotel. The hotel was located in a nice neighborhood bustling with locals doing their day-to-day activities. You can experience the feeling of community while staying there. As stated in the description, the hotel was located in close proximity to the major tourist attractions Istanbul has to offer. And even if it is a bit of a distance, the transport system is excellent, so no worries about mobility.

Location can be far for some, with slopes to climb to get to places
