Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaSome might not appreciate the kitchy nature of a 1950's hotel that feels dated. Might be a little chilly at night and each room seems to have a separate heater instead of typical HVAC, the window unit AC wasn't used but I imagine it might be louder than visitors might prefer.
I imagine in the 1950's when Joshua Tree was becoming known and people began really using the interstate system that 9 Palms' quaint bungalows were a welcome respite, secluded from each other and far enough off the road that noise was not an issue. These days though the bungalows are dated and not quite up to typical touring motel standards (the whimsical recent paint job is appreciated), I suspect the low cost and amazing location are the two driving factors of anyone staying here. It's still dark and quiet in the rooms, the coffee maker, microwave, and refigerator are helpful, and the beds and pillows are comfortable, and this was all I was really looking for, I found it to be an excellent value for the money but others may not be able to see past the appearance or find the space less whimisical than I did.

An old survivor from the 40’s…not for everyone…it shows age, but is being well cared for and blends right in with the 29 Palms vibe…

United States of AmericaElectric power failure, manager difficult to talk to. No towel bars or robe hooks or closet rod. No battery in smoke detector. Shower control uneven: water temp could go from hot to cold on its own. Need a scald guard fixture.

United States of AmericaIf anything at all, just the closeness to the highway
- Location is actually 50/50 : great location in terms of view and elevation with a nice & unobstructed view on the mountains around, but also located right by the highway…so depends on time and day - Owner is really friendly, welcoming and accommodating, he made sure I had everything I needed to make my stay as memorable and relaxing as possible; Forthcoming and helpful, gave nice recommendations for points of interest around town - Housekeeper, very nice lady, looks after the customers and also make sure we have all the comfort possible - charming property, artsy and colorful, which fits great of the amount of artwork/artists found in desert town - walking distance from downtown and restaurants (~10min or less) - Close to Joshua Tree National Park entrance

United KingdomThis was a very colourful and arty desert accommodation experience! I liked how each unit was it's own little 'house', and we had a porch to sit on and watch the sunrise in the morning. The AC was great, the bed was comfy and it was very cheap. Very close to Joshua Tree National Park. Happy guest.

United States of AmericaRoom was in rough shape. Wall paint on ceiling and trim pieces. Parking area was torn up. HVAC was loud. Cracked tiles in shower floor. Some patches where wall/ceiling had been repaired somewhat amateurishly.
Large, detached rooms, so no noise issues. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Full-size refrigerator in room, as well as microwave and coffee maker. Nice patio out front. Decent size TV with HBO (etc) available. Shower had good water pressure.

United States of AmericaThe hot water systems are old and not reliable. The bedding is as old as the buildings--- but clean. The upkeep is not great but it was clean.
The owner and staff are amazing. Friendly, helpful, accommodating. He helped us out after hours when our booking elsewehere was cancelled and given away. This is a quirky little village of bungalows. Brightly colored fun little buildings. We enjoyed the lovely view.

FrancePillows were extremely not comfortable, beds so so, we didnt have microwave in room as advertised and overall it wasnt top clean (foot step traces on the bathroom mat...) so i think it's a little too expensive for what it is currently. (the whole place would need a good reno). We paid 113 dollars and had way better rooms for 20-30$ less. But it was ok
The owner/man at the front desk was is very nice, the location is great and the view very nice ! Also appreciated the coffee maker in the room and the bench and little stool table outside on the porch to watch the view

United States of AmericaI’ve stayed at this property once before, and my first experience was great. Everything was newly remodeled; spacious bathroom, little kitchen area. No complaints at all! This second time around, things weren’t quite as clean as before. Apparently a new cleaning person was hired, and so far they’re not doing a bath up job. Oh well. I would still stay here again.

United States of AmericaThe bathroom toilet was very cramped. When using the toilet I felt trapped. It sits in a corner about 3 ft X 4 ft with the sink directly in front of you about 1 ft away. Only complaint.
I enjoyed the Premium cable (most hotel just have basic) ,view, pricing and the comfort. Most of all I enjoyed the idea that I could pull up to my room door. Made unloading very easy. The out door seating on the porch was Very nice and relaxing.
