Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Wish it had been less expensive- but was a good value for the money

Breakfast was extraordinary. Lovely to have wine & cheese each day at 5. John there for any issue...but no issues! Fabulous location. Near the trolley line #67 to go visit mansions. Recommendation for Lobster Shack a great one. Will return.

it was great!
John and Laurence were wonderful hosts treating their guests with the extra special touches like wine and cheese at 5 PM and homemade cookies were set out for us in the afternoon as well as access to tea and coffee in the beautiful sitting room. We were spoiled in the morning with an amazing breakfast and such hospitable service. The room was tastefully decorated both modern with cozy immaculate high end bedding and pillows, a beautiful bathroom with a jacuzzi tub but with colonial details and pieces that kept with the period of the house. It was a perfect place to celebrate our anniversary both romantic and quaint. John was very welcoming when we arrived, helped us with deciding our itinerary and navigate Newport spending time with us to outline a map and giving us the inside scoop with where to eat. Besides the perfect location of the inn, close to the action but not in it, having a place to safe place to park and the fact that they made us feel like family will bring both of us coming back to visit! Breakfast was outstanding! Location couldn’t be any more convenient. Service was impeccable. Recommendations were spot on. Inn keepers were pleasant, friendly, and very helpful. Laurence is a talented chef and superb hostess. John is extremely knowledgeable and most accommodating.

Food: The breakfast food was excellent. The afternoon wine and cheese snack was a treat. Staff: The friendliness of the staff enhanced my experience. Location: The location was convenient to every adventure I took. The wharfs where boat tours, shops, and a plethora of restaurants were located were a short walk from the B&B. The staff provided multiple information pamphlets which helped locate my destinations easily.

A mini fridge in the room would have been convenient but we did have access to one down the hall.
The host and hostess were very hospitable and welcoming. The breakfasts were fresh and delicious with a touch of gourmet flare. So clean and comfortable - delightful hospitality, helpful information regarding area attractions. We highly recommend a stay at the Almondy Inn.

Our only regret is not staying longer.

I would highly recommend a stay at the Almondy Inn in Newport Rhode Island. We were treated like royalty. I was lucky enough to get a room upgrade due to a cancelation. The room was beautifully decorated and had a pretty sea view. We enjoyed happy hour each afternoon and an incredibly delicious breakfast each morning. The location of the Inn is perfect. It is right in the heart of town. You can walk everywhere. The owners were very kind and extremely generous!! I will be back.

Every summer I come to newport and pay high rates at inns only to leave thinking, "that place wasn't great." The Almondy Inn is different. The room, bathroom, common areas were spotless. The furnishings and bathroom have been recently updated while still retaining historical charm. There's central air! The hot breakfasts were superb and lovingly prepared and plated. i made two annoying requests that were so graciously delivered upon. 1. I don't eat indoors because of covid, so every morning, they served my breakfast to me on the front porch and regularly checked in on me. I met a couple staying at another inn who also don't eat indoors and were told they could not have their breakfast on that inn's front porch or in their room. Almondy didn't even hesitate to accommodate! 2. I left a note in the room asking housekeeping if they could clean with the window open and ceiling fan on (covid concerns). I was just hoping for honor code, but came back that night to the window cracked open and ceiling fan on. Really appreciated! Can't beat the location. Easy private lot parking.

The hosts were wonderfully welcoming and accommodating. They created a homelike atmosphere and continually assessed and assured our comfort. The breakfast was very good, and they wine and cheese evening gathering was a fun way to hear about things to do in the area and meet fellow guests.

The gourmet breakfast at the Almondy Inn was fabulous with a beautifully set dining table. The pastries would rival any French patisserie! We were happily assisted with local information & guidance for touring Newport. The hosts could not have been any kinder. The location was excellent.

The owners are wonderful. We were attending a wedding, and they provided us early check-in to get ready. Very friendly and accommodating They offered great suggestions on places to see and restaurants. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We will be back !!

A lovely and comfortable home for our two night stay. From start to finish, the hosts were available to cater to every need and to answer any questions. The location is fantastic. We had a view of the bay. we could walk to everything. And the breakfasts were wonderful. We will stay there again.

All was perfect.
Captain’s suite is amazing.-spacious with beautiful decor, updates and views. the innkeepers were warm, inviting and attentive to our needs. Breakfast and refreshing were delicious.
