To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Macau- room cleaning , 2 times my room was not cleaned. Once they knocked on the door in the morning, I told them that I would leave soon. But anyway , when i cam back late afternoon, the room was not done. The second time, I left at 10am, came back around 1pm stayed in my room for 15 minutes to change and left , came back around 6:30pm...room not done. The cleaning lady saw me coming and going out. One thing I did not like at all, was the speaker in the room, shouting loud in my room, testing the fire system, I presume. I almost had an hart attack.
Reception staff were good, efficient and friendly.

United States of AmericaThe bathroom/sink area smelled like urine. Beds are very uncomfortable and the pillows were FLAT. There is a $100 fee you are charged at the moment of check-in that is supposed to be returned to your card at checkout. It's been two days, and the charges still haven't been returned to me.
The room was large and modern looking. Had very high ceilings, making it spacious.

United States of AmericaIt says they provide Ubers to and from the airport for free, in which they do, HOWEVER when I needed a ride to the airport at 5am for my flight, they don’t provide it until starting 6am. Booking.com did not tell me a time frame and I even asked the front desk the night before if I needed to let them know in advance and they said no; to just come right down. I wish they would have told me in advance.
