Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe grounds are natural and beautiful - a rain forest environment with orchids and anthurium. Everything was supplied in the room for an easy breakfast. Very quiet and unique

United States of AmericaNot much, everything was pretty good. coffee and breakfast part was not much to speak of. We did not partake in what little was offered, although we could have. Instead we got coffee in town.
Absolutely beautiful location, many beautiful gardens and flowering plants. Easy to get to, Great value for the price. Close to the Volcano National Park but much less expensive and a much nicer stay. Hostess was very sweet and accommodation, welcoming.

United States of AmericaArriving in the dark was a little tricky, but well worth it! My only small issue was that the tea kettle did not work. If I was a coffee drinker like most of the rest of the world, I probably wouldn’t even have noticed!
The Aloha Crater Lodge was a great find! It has a nice kitchenette with fresh Hawaiian fruits and other snacks. A very comfortable bed, and a great Jacuzzi bathtub! There is also a private front porch area to sit, looking out over a beautiful scenic, wooded area.

The location was great. Beautiful setting in the rainforest and very near Hawai'i Volcanoes NP. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. We were a university group and they were so great to the students. Will definitely be returning next time we bring classes to Hawai'i!

ArgentinaThe place was very dirty. The carpets smelled like they had never been cleaned, and the bedsheets also smelled bad. Any other place in Volcano would be better.
The place is very close to the national park

United States of America1. The room lacked a Guest Book with orientation info, necessitating a call to the proprietor to locate laundry, get TV working, ask about the “kitchen,” locate the hot tub, and ascertain check-out time. 2. Shannon came to the room to help with the TV, but wasn’t sure how to get it to work. It magically turned on when I accidentally pushed one of the buttons on the two remotes. Clear Instructions need to be printed out. 3. We were not able to actually locate the jacuzzi at night, though we would have benefited from a soak after a long hike. The next morning, we discovered it was farther/on the other side of the driveway where we were directed to look. 4. When we asked about doing a load of laundry circa 8 pm (because it took 30 min to get a call back), we were told it was too late, and asked if we could wait until 9 am so as not to interrupt the other guests. 5. The other guests awoke us starting at 5:30 am with loud conversation, argument, and loud noises, which continued for a couple hours. 6. The laundry is located upstairs (on second floor) in what appears to be a larger apartment. The newish washer has a strong mold odor. The newish dryer worked quite efficiently. 7. Whaddayaknow? A few feet from the laundry was the stove we’d been asking after the night before. We had bought groceries to make tacos, given a “kitchen” was advertised with “laundry” at Booking.com. The proprietor offered to loan us an electric rice cooker or toaster, but we were told the microwave in the unit was all the kitchenette that existed. Clearly, they didn’t want us using the stove. But then, they should’nt advertise such amenities. 8. The advertised lava tube is also closed, pending repairs to the stairway. 9. The proprietors have a clear Christian projection.
1. Aloha Crater Lodge is nestled in the enchanting rain forest. The gardens are lovely. 2. The “continental” breakfast of fruit, bars, oatmeal packets, hot chocolate and coffee was plentiful. 3. Shannon was responsive to our needs.

United States of AmericaThere was a rat or something in the ceiling and the staff at the front desk didn’t seem to want to do anything to help me (like moving my room). The bathroom door wouldn’t even shut. The wi-fi also didn’t reach my room.
Reasonably nice looking place if you don’t look too closely.

United States of AmericaNothing. It was great!
We loved having several rooms and a kitchen as well as laundry facilities right in our room. Aloha Crater Lodge was literally 5 minutes from Volcanoes National Park and it was tucked away in this secluded, forested niche. It was peaceful and quiet and we loved it! Perfect for a family of 5.
