Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We had a window to the backyard, where there was some very noisy ventilation. It was impossible to sleep even with the window closed.

Two tiny drops of dried blood on my pillowcase.
Very close to Central Park and to Times Square. Plenty of restaurant/fast food options around. Short walk to two subway stations. No tea/coffee in the room, but is available in the foyer every morning.

We booked a double bed room but it was literally the size of a closet but thankfully the staff had options for an upgrade to a queen room which was amazing, spacious and cost effective. 10/10

Bathroom is tiny, not enough counter space if you have more than one person.
The room was a decent size. The location was excellent, was close to Times Square and very quiet at night which is unusual for most NYC hotels. Would definitely stay again!

The room is cramped, but we expected that. Sometimes, there's noise at night coming from the bar downstairs/outside.
Location is perfect. Walking distance to the subway, food places, Central Park and Times Square. Daily housekeeping was great.

The location is great - walking distance to theatre district, central park, Rockefeller center, Time Square and Empire State Building. So you are staying at the heart of this beautiful city. Also a lot of restaurants and cafes around.The staff is really nice, stored my luggage, because I arrived very early and offer airport shuttle.

The bed was small for a queen. There was construction noise from outside from 7:30 am until 4pm everyday. Was not a big deal because we were not there during the day.

They were doing construction right outside of our bedroom window at 8am.

Wish coffee was available all day.
Staff excellent- very helpful and friendly, especially housekeeping. Our first room was next to an elevator and when we asked we were immediately moved to another room that was quiet. The fitness room was small, but adequate. The hotel is not fancy, but perfect for us. Towels and sheets better quality - more plush- than a higher end hotel that we stayed at on a different trip. Best of all- about 5 short blocks from Central Park.

Kind of old furniture, especially the A/C.
Great location (100 m from times square). There is no available breakfast, but there are a lot of options around the hotel. Staff was very helpful with all our request.

The carpet in the hallways was torn and rundown. Looked old and unkept.
The lobby was modern and nice. The staff were all amazing, especially the doormen!!

Cleaning services provided could be improved, as the place was not always clean up to perfect standards. For the whole duration of our stay, which was more than a week, bedsheets were never changed. Additionally, the rooms aren't soundproof, which, coupled with the fact that NYC can be quite loud, made us wake up at night due to loud noises coming from outside. Wearing earplugs fixes the issue anyway. On top of that, the A/C unit in the room was EXTREMELY loud, to the point where, if the unit turned on to ensure the temperature stayed constant during nighttime, it would actually wake you up due to its loudness. Minor inconvenience, but worth noticing: the room was a bit dark, due to the fact that the main light in there was not bright enough.
The hotel is very conveniently located, at walking distance from the majority of the most famous touristic attractions. The bathroom was quite nicely organized, and it was provided on a daily basis with soap, shampoo and conditioner, but no toothpaste. The hotel provided complementary water bottles on a daily basis in the room, as well as free water all day long in the reception hall. Coffee and tea are also available for free at breakfast. The reception staff was lovely and very cordial.

Room was small, and the bed overly soft. Only room for a small desk and one chair. For 6 nights with 2 people this became increasingly frustrating having nowhere to sit other then the bed.
Clean with wonderful staff, location was also great.
