Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe desk people didn't have any correct answers. Their places they said to eat were awful or closed. The girl said tomo restaurant was just raw fish but not true. It's Japanese!
The location was great. Liked the atmosphere. Loved the farmers market

United States of AmericaThe first room i got had a BUSTED window. On the first floor. Very unsafe. I was able to move rooms with ease, though, thanks to the frontdesk gentleman (nightshift).
Nightshift front desk worker was very kind, attentive, and patient. Rooms were comfortable. It also has a handful of breakfast options which ends at 10 am I believe.

United States of AmericaThe bathroom was a bit snug the shower/bathtub was a bit awkward to get into.
I was nice to be central to the town so we could walk to anything we needed. I thought it was fun to stay in a historical style hotel. They offered a continental breakfast but we didn't have time to try anything.

United States of AmericaBed quite hard, sleeping somewhat difficult. Smallest "queen" bed ever experienced, more like a double bed. Breakfast consisted of dry cereals and coffee/juice; didn't see any other choices. Actual room did not match pictures of room when reviewed for booking, disappointing.
Good location, central Arcata. Easy to walk around.

United States of AmericaI liked everything about it. Was a little sad walking past homeless sitting in building entryways to the left as we arrived and parked, but of course it wasn't a problem and nothing the hotel could have done.
The hotel was restored in the original design, including the furniture - there was even a cute radiator and clawfoot bathtub. It's right on the square in Arcata, which is beautiful and great for the Saturday farmers market. At first I was disappointed that we didn't have a view of the town square, but the side street view was also very nice, with colorful scenery of the hill in the distance, old town shops, and a beautiful tree with red, yellow, and green leaves. The windows opened as well and the bed was comfortable.

United States of AmericaBreakfast was...meh. But unless you're really on a budget, it's worth the extra effort to walk to Los Bagels, Renatas, Big Blue, or Cafe Brio anyway.
Hotel Arcata is a staple in beautiful Arcata. I've stayed there periodically over the years and it's always impressed and been dead reliable. The closure of TJs and the other bar leaves a bit of a hole on that side of the square (and it's been filled by some...questionable folks) but the rest of the square seems to be thriving with wonderful shops and restaurants. So many things are walking distance (the marsh, a ton of shops and restaurants, and even the HSU (it's still HSU to me) campus.

United States of AmericaA bit noisy at night.
The location is great, right on the Arcata Plaza with nearby restaurants. I enjoyed the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. There seem to be fewer homeless people on the Plaza than in previous visits.
