When I arrived (after the check-in time), my room was not available, despite the front desk staff giving me a key. This resulted in an awkward encounter with the cleaning crew. Not a huge deal, but a minor inconvenience after driving a LONG way. They also seem to put all of the people with dogs in a certain section, right next to each other. The walls are thin, and we could hear barking from a neighboring dog.

All I have to say is - upgraded bathroom! My room had a huge, modern, and beautifully tiled (not one of those plastic shells hotels often place over an old tub), walk-in shower that was bigger than the shower at my house! I appreciated the mini kitchenette, which helped with preparing my dog's food. The mini fridge was also large and spacious to hold all of my road trip snacks and drinks. And I love the dark bedding, was very comfortable. Ice machine was very close to my room. Dog potty area was convenient.

We had a big family group with 4 children. Our rooms were next to each other, which was important. We were close to the office where we could get pool towels so we could swim and paper plates when we needed them for our pizza. We had fun in the pool. It was nice and clean. Everything was great! The beds were really comfy. The bathrooms were so clean. My family really enjoyed the breakfast. The food was fresh and delicious. Thank you so much!! :)

Concrete, I also would like dimmer exterior lights outside the rooms at night. Not blaring

Great accomadation. I wish that all the doors to outside had something other than concrete parking lot immeadiately adjacent. For pet comfort not that great. The absolute best thing about our stay at the Chief was without a doubt : STEFANIE!!! She is fantastic! Helpful, thoughtful and friendly!!

The bathroom is a bit cramped, but that decision was made decades ago when the place was built.

As a place to stay halfway between California and Utah, Battle Mountain is a good stop. The Big Chief is more than adequate. The room has been nicely renovated, and the bed is comfortable.

Continental breakfast didn’t have many gluten free options (yogurts and eggs were gone and weren’t restocked that we saw). But for a tiny motel it had quite a bit of variety for what it was

Room was warm and waiting for us. Staff had set up a rollaway bed for a 5th person prior to our late arrival. Clean and cozy spot for breaking up a long drive.

I wish the breakfast went until 10 but that's not their fault. I'm a night owl and sleep in whenever possible. It would be nice if there was an ice machine closer to the front of the building but I've had to go farther at other establishments.

The location "Battle Mountain, Nevada" doesn't have that many options, and all of the options are overpriced. That said, we took a chance on this little establishment. This review is for our second stay as we went there a second time. The check in process was personable. The woman who was working there was very sweet and helpful. The outside of the hotel makes it look like it needs some updating but the room we had (king) was very updated. No carpeted floors. Very nice bed with stylish and comfortable bedding. There was a fridge and microwave, coffee maker, the usual. But I love this little place. We've had two different rooms there now and it will be our go-to when crossing the I-80 to California and back from here forward.

I could hear everything outside- the doors could have better trim to keep noise out. When I would go to the door, I could feel air blowing through the closed door easily.

Parking is a little stressful when traveling with a moving truck as the lot is pretty small.

You could not have the TV or coffee maker on when using the microwave.It would trip the surge protector. Microwave should not be plugged into a surge protector with anything else.
