    Very unhappy with Booking.com

Booking.com says this property provides a full breakfast but it does not. I have been in contact with Booking.com's "customer service" but they have so far declined to make this right or even to correct the listing. I am unlikely to ever use Booking.com again and would recommend that others avoid it as well. There are other places to make bookings that stand behind their promises.

Breakfast was not provided, although the Booking.com listing clearly states that a full breakfast is provided. Apparently, the innkeeper has tried to correct this, but Booking.com continues to provide wrong information. They claim that the confirmation I received says "no meal plan" but I never received that and in any case, that would have come AFTER my non-refundable payment was made. June was very nice about this an upgraded us to a nicer room to make up for it. At this point, my argument is with Booking.com.

The description needs to be updated. We were expecting to find a spa, and you have to book a long time in advance to have a massage. There is no sauna. The name is bed and breakfast, and we only had coffee and biscuits, a little deceiving expecting to find a full breakfast and only seeing coffee

I like the bedroom decoration and the vintage look overall of the house. Very green outside, perfect for relaxing

there is a question whether there is air conditioning. we just happen to be staying when the night was in the fifty’s and she said to open window. when we got there the room was a little humid. The thermostat is under her control. I’m thinking the rooms are not air conditioned enough to be comfortable in the summer months. This explains the bad reviews I have read about no air conditioning. we had both windows open and a fan. Also no full breakfast. Coffee. yogurt and croissants.

It was like going back in time. the setting was beautiful.

The room did not have air-conditioning and opening the windows did not cool it off very much.

The Booking.com advertised a full breakfast was included with the stay. Bed and BREAKFAST, however, there was only coffee served. Host stated this was a Booking.com error. Another B and B just down the street was at the same price but we choose this one for the uniqueness of the home. Should not be advertised as a B & B! Just a Bed....

We didn't have air conditioning... didn't notice that in the listing but its NC in July so it was a little warm and unpleasant for sleeping. Our room wasn't dirty but it wasn't clean either... found a beer bottle cap on the floor next to the bed and a half bar of soap on the bathroom floor. Nothing too terrible on that front but not impressive. We did not see any breakfast in the am... my husband left at 7:30am and I came down at 9:30am and neither of us saw anything. I did smell coffee at one point but I am not a coffee drinker. I would not recommend or stay there again myself.

The location was perfect for what we wanted. The directions to access our room were clear

We didn't have AC in our room, thankfully the cool mountain air was enough. We didn't mind - but others might when considering a stay.

The room was uncomfortably warm (I expect it would be amazing when the weather is cooler). There were no guidelines for parking (which is very limited) or for breakfast, which I never saw (It's possible that their website is outdated and breakfast isn't offered anymore).

The room was beautiful. The bed was amazingly comfortable - feather pillows and a feather mattress topper. I was able to check in and leave without ever seeing another human being (this appeals to me). It was just around the corner from Eden Park, so if you're heading for an event there it's great.

The floors and stairs creaked something awful. I know it’s an old house, but maybe some area rugs would’ve softened it a little. As it was a bed and breakfast breakfast could’ve been a little more thought out. No creamer was offered, nor other hot beverage additives till I asked for them the second day. I understand not wanting to waste food, but maybe inquiring with the guest ahead of time to do that it would be a little more tailored. Just so one is aware, there isn’t anything within walking distance.

The enormous claw foot tub in the room was definitely the crowning glory to my stay. The whole place was filled with history and charm. The grounds and gardens are absolutely lovely, as are the inn keepers. Black Mountain downtown was only a short drive away.

The inn-keeper never answered the phone and was also unavailable upon arrival. We could hear someone watching TV, but they did not respond to knocks on the door. It felt strange to arrive to a giant, empty old house, with no one to great us. Also, our room was not ideal (especially the bathtub, which was peeling, small and unclean) but we couldn’t speak with anyone about switching rooms, even though there were many. Also, the so-called “breakfast” was a “continental” breakfast, at best.

It’s a charming old building, and was located where we needed it to be.

We felt a bit unsettled when we arrived to find no one else in the house and no idea about whether there was coffee for breakfast or what to expect. It was a bit disquieting, but we put it behind us and embraced the experience. We found muffins and yogurt and coffee and fresh fruit for breakfast and an apology from the ??hostess??. Overall, we are happy to have experienced this place. It would have been a bit better if we had not felt the eerie silence of an empty unfamiliar place upon arrival.

It was a wonderful choice. The history was palpable in this place. We loved our visit in this historical spot. We loved the old white oak tree.
