Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaOne minor downside was the creaky staircase and the noise from people walking upstairs at night, but this is understandable given the age of the house.
The location is excellent, with great restaurants and a beautiful neighborhood nearby. The area felt safe both at night and early in the morning. Check-in was smooth, and the staff was very helpful, offering additional options for my son and me. The house is clean and well-maintained.

United States of AmericaThe location is lovely! We enjoyed walking around the Richmond and Hawthorne areas, there are lots of great little restaurants, coffee shops and shops, and we went to a concert at the Hawthorne Theatre which was only a 15 min walk from the guesthouse. :) The breakfast offered was delicious, as was the late checkout time.

United States of AmericaNo fault of the place - but the parking was difficult- as explained in the property description. I had to park several blocks away on the weekend - but during the week it was easier.
Very charming, clean, comfortable, and quiet. Had everything thing I needed

It was quiet and comfortable, the breakfast area was cute. So much nicer than your standard motel “breakfast”. Very warm and inviting accommodations.

United States of AmericaEach room has a private bathroom, but not all are 'ensuite' bathrooms. The non-ensuite bathrooms are right next door and the Bluebird provides robes, so it really wasn't a problem, just something of which to be aware.
The Bluebird is a converted house and it feels like you're staying in a home. The room was quiet and clean. The location was excellent for me. The kitchen is open for (self-prepared) breakfast and snacks/coffee the rest of the day. The wifi in the room was fast. It was very nice being able to meet other guests in the living areas of the house. Hot water is instantaneous.

United States of AmericaThis property is well located in in a nice neighborhood, close to restaurants and little shops in Portland. The house is charming and our room was quiet, comfortable and well appointed. We always choose this guesthouse when we stay in Portland. They have a fully stocked kitchen and a nice assortment of self-serve breakfast items, including eggs, pastries, yogurts, cereals and coffee for a continental breakfast. The staff is kind and accommodating.

United States of AmericaNothing! It was great!
I loved the atmosphere. It is beautiful and immaculate house with many rooms each with different things. More things equal slightly higher fees. There are some steps up to the house and I chose a room on the second floor. I also chose a bathroom outside my room. It was private and huge and had a claw foot tub! Some rooms had a bathroom inside it. There are some rooms on the main floor and I think two downstairs where the laundry room is. There was lots of nice choices for snacks and breakfast. My questions were answered quickly and I was allowed to check in early which really helped. All of the the instructions were clear and everything worked just as described. I hope to return to Portland soon and will def book here again. I appreciate how wonderful this place is.
