Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThey need to update it… The pool would have people in it if they cleaned it and spruced up the pool deck I would have taken a Bath in the tub, but it was scratched up and too old looking (but very CLEAN) I also found a 3 spiders. 1 was dead. I carry a homemade non toxic bug spray, so I used that, but still… it could be because we are so close to the river, but still. They need to spray for that An enclosed patio would be nice and doable I think Also, there was a very obvious “slant” in the back part of the cottage that you could feel when standing in the shower and in the back room. It’s probably because it a prefabricated tiny house, so the back end is on a higher ground?. I’m also not a fan of the Astro turf in the front, other than that it was lovely very beautiful property. Just doing some simple updates would work.
I loved the location and how clean and homey the cabins are I was in a studio cottage. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were pristine

United States of AmericaAs mentioned above, so much of the beautiful forest I remember from previous stays is gone, replaced by what feels like a mini home development, barren of trees. Only the old section is still beautiful.
The cabin we stayed in was charming, with lots of flowers and birds outside. It still has a creek and a bit of nature surrounding the property. Sadly the company that purchased the property a few years ago decided to develop the land by wiping out all the gorgeous trees and replacing them with tons of new cabins and not a plant nearby. The new section looks like a prefab mini home shopping mall. Only the old cabins still retain the beautiful gardens and trees. If you come here, make sure you stay either in the main building or in the old cabins.

United States of AmericaWindow shades did not allow for you to open the windows (older windows that open inward on a chain) and still allowed for privacy. Bathroom window had no covering at all, and due to its proximity, you could not open it up (while showering) and still have privacy
We have been coming to The Carmel River Inn x 40 years. Its not fancy. It's very basic. It's rather remote (as compared to other places to stay) The room was very clean and comfortable It's perfect for us.

Stayed in the motel ... not in the cottages. Room very clean and had been remodel. Note it is a room only, no desk for a laptop plus a chairs. The balcony overlooked the Carmel River ... very nice. It's an older motel that has been remodel with a great location.

United States of AmericaI was surprised by the pet fee of $50 per day, and have an additional $100 on my check. No information about pet fees or pet cleaning on the hotel's website or Booking.com
The room had a river view, was pretty clean, and satisfied of my expectations. Beautiful area for a walk with the dog. Also, I charged my Tesla using local electricity. Location close to the trail, grocery, and plaza. I will recommend it to my friends. For the next time, I would prefer a cottage instead of a hotel room, almost for the same price.

United States of AmericaNo place to sit except for bed & kitchen chairs. Minimal closet space. We didn’t spend too much time inside and we don’t bring fancy clothes so this wasn’t a big concern to us. It is a very small cottage and the space is used efficiently.
We had a small vintage cottage with a kitchenette to ourselves. Comfortable King sized bed with luxury linens. Heater in the unit was efficient for this cold weekend. The kitchenette had a coffeemaker, fridge, microwave and 2burner electric cooktop. If it had been warmer & less rainy we also could have used the lounge chairs outside.

United States of AmericaIf anything, maybe some weed eating could’ve been done around the back side of the cabin, but we were just coming off a big storm so that is totally forgivable.
We are local and wanted something different for a 50th birthday girl’s weekend near Carmel by the Sea. Quick ride share to downtown (2-3 miles) or walk down and across the street ( Highway 1) for available shopping and dining (About half a mile) The cabin we stayed in was a newer one and really nice. And clean! You can’t exactly SEE the Carmel River, but it is just over the berm. The whole cottages area is so cute. Can’t wait to see how all the new landscaping grows in in the coming years. The young man that checked me in was very friendly and pleasant.

United States of AmericaI thought the room was more like a cabin in an open space from the pictures but I think that was actually showing a totally different area. I probably wouldn't have booked the room if I saw the pictures of the room I stayed in.
Location was really pretty and ease of check in was great. The facilities staff were all very nice and professional.

Great location next to the Carmel River with a walking path near it. It’s a large property with a number of stand alone cottages available. The inn is very dog friendly!

United States of Americathe bathroom was a little tight and dated...but that would be hard to change. It would be nice to have a larger garbage can
It was so nice to have a balcony to sit on and look out at the little river going by...also the room was spacious and had a fun mid-century vibe......also the front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and gracious
