Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThere was no microwave for our leftovers, which was difficult because food on the island is very expensive, so we didn’t like wasting anything.
The staff was nice, and the rooms were great! Great location and view.

United States of AmericaWe were warned from other reviews that there is no elevator. We were placed in the room in 3rd floor so it was really hard to navigate the bikes we brought with us. And the stairs are very narrow and steep. Still, I would stay here again.
Clean and overall good value. Area is close enough to all amenities and but far enough from the busiest parts of Avalon. Comfy beds. Very helpful staff.

United States of AmericaThe room smelled very musty. There was no DO NOT DISTURB tag/door knob sign for our door. The mini fridge freezer door was broken off. There were NO plugs/receptacles near the night tables for charging devices. There was no ice in the entire hotel nor at the front desk and no coffee or tea at the front desk. The front desk closed for the day at 2pm so we could not store our luggage. The freezer in the lobby did not have ice cream. We had to leave the hotel to get tea or coffee.
The front desk called us when the room was ready early and they stored our luggage until then.

United States of AmericaAs mentioned above the tightness of the room
Casa Mariquita is charming and wonderfully located. The room was a little tight with the television to the side of both beds and only a little walk room around the bedframe. Everything else was good. It would be nice if the desk staff was a little more engaging.

United States of AmericaThe WiFi connection is poor, we had no WiFi. The office times were strange they close super early and or they go out to lunch and don’t come back at the time they indicated that they were.
I liked how quiet it was, it felt very peaceful. It was clean and the rooms were spacious. If you need more blankets and pillows they have extra in the closet. The patio was useful we ate and hung out there. They provided self serve pancakes it was cool to watch it being made from the machine.

United States of AmericaI was unable to find a working phone number to reach the property before arriving to ask a few minor questions. Also the mini fridge in the room was a bit loud, and the mattress could have been softer.
Clean and quiet room, very close to town and they let us check in before the usual check in time and store our bags after checking out. We didn't eat the free breakfast but the concierge did let us know that they provided a few items including oatmeal and pancakes and that it was available until 11am.

United States of AmericaLocation was excellent. Close to everything (walking distance) you need, restaurants, shopping, Vons etc. The complimentary breakfast was small but enough to fill you up and our granddaughters loved being able to make their own pancakes. The price was excellent. Our room was a bit cramped but it was good for the one night we stayed. The employee at the desk who checked us in and out was very nice. Would definitely stay again. Well worth the price.

United States of AmericaThey need a better mattress. The one in room 7 was somewhat hard. Also, it’s a squeaky bed. The shower handle needs to be fixed, as you can’t turn off the shower easily without putting an amount of strength (it almost feels you are going to break the handle).
The room was very clean; Hot shower.

United States of AmericaThe day before our arrival I received a phone call from the hotel asking what time we would be checking in. As I didn't have that information with me at the time I told her I would call her back. I tried to return that call 2-3 times with no answer, then I tried a couple of other phone numbers for the property and again no answer. Nonetheless our check in went fine and I did relay this information about the phone call to the front desk. I will say that the property is a bit of a maze with a lot of pathways and stairs to get to the different levels, as our room was on the 4th floor and no elevator we had quite a hike, so I'm glad we only had 3 large shoulder bags with us for our one night stay. We did find a back way into the property very close to our room, but you had to go up a very steep incline to get to it. FYI many properties in Avalon are like this, especially those that are not on Crescent Street which is flat and faces the beach, otherwise the city has a lot of steep inclines in some areas, but with those elevations come great views! Not something I didn't like, but just an FYI to be prepared.
I appreciated the quick phone call to our room after we checked in when I had inadvertently left my cell phone at the front desk. Check in went smoothly and we were told that a continental breakfast was available in the morning. So learning we could get coffee and a snack was good to know. Wanting to explore the town in the morning before meeting friends we just grabbed some coffee and a granola bar, but it looked like they also had instant oatmeal, muffins, (everything individually wrapped) and some kind of touchless automatic pancake machine.
