Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

TV had wonky connection - very pixellated and lots of interruptions (and we are PJ movie people at night, so this was a bummer). Staff tried hard to fix it, but problem persisted. The hotel was tiny but the room was a good size. A/C was mounted to blow right in your face in the bed :( Hated that. Bed was comfy, but pillows were extremely soft/lumpy and no firmer pillows available. Staff tried, though!
Location was great. Room was good sized. Shower had excellent water pressure. Lots of light but good blackout shades. Staff was extremely responsive and helpful.

I love how close it was to the beach and we could walk to state street where all the restaurants and shops are. Also we could walk to the wharf. Our room also had a patio connected to it which was a nice touch.

Keycard locks were ‘old-school’, would not work on our door reliably… manager noted they often need a new battery. :(. Also, parking onsite was extremely tight. Spaces were barely wider than the car, with little room to back up.

This is our second stay at the Castillo Inn. The location is great and the property is charming. The room is immaculate and the decor is lovely. The beds are exceptionally comfortable. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

The TV mount is too lightweight for the television, and so the TV constantly tilts down. I had to insert a plastic spoon into the mount to keep it from tilting. It was a Samsung TV but the internet connection was really bad so streaming was very poor quality and sometimes failed completely. Being over a mile's walk from downtown and a decent walk from the wharf meant it was a little inconvenient. So the tradeoff for quiet is extra walking/bicycling/driving. I would normally have rented a bicycle but the circumstances of my particular trip made it impractical. The cons definitely do not outweigh the pros and even though there are more words in the "cons" section I enjoyed my stay.
The location, being right by a park and away from the hubbub, was quiet, the room was a great size and the bed + bedsheets + pillows were very comfortable. The decor was pretty with nice updates while keeping period details. Castillo Inn nailed it on the most important things for a hotel: cleanliness and providing a good night's rest. The overhead climate control system is nice and quiet. I also like that it's right by the water.

Like I mentioned, room was a bit smaller than planned. Coffee Pot in bathroom was a bit odd for me!
Room was a little smaller than planned. I thought I was getting the SUITE upstairs w/FirePlace as shown on website. Location was Awesome! I don't recall a breakfast being served at Castillo. But, we did go around corner and had a good breakfast *Chad's Cafe). Shower was HOT and Strong Flow - GOOD!

I stayed just one night in transit therefore cannot say much about the location and additional ammenities, but the room was superb! Super clean, furnished in a practical and cosy way, with all ammenities and comfort needed. The bed was the best! The staff was going the extra mile and was super helpful - even though my flight was delayed and I arrived after check-in time, they patiently explained the procedure to me and made sure I got the key to the room and arrive safely. Highly recommend!

the price was pretty expensive for the room, plus the coffee being in the bathroom and no quality coffee for that price they should have a complimentary bottle of water plus a decent Keurig style coffee in the room .
Location is very close to the beach so that is a plus, the room was pretty small and the coffee was in the bathroom, eating locations close by,
