Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaOutlet beside bed for charging needs repair. So loose plug won’t stay in it.
Charming. Big room, lovely linens, very clean, good breakfast options, nice & helpful desk person who referred us to terrific restaurant for dinner (Bistro 12). Pool looked inviting but we hadn’t time. Hotel restaurant is not open yet post pandemic, but you can arrange ahead for a private chef.

United States of AmericaThe breakfast was disappointing. I understand the concern with covid but that doesn't mean you still can't do an outstanding job with the quality and variety of food provided for the complimentary breakfast.
The grounds and pool were very nice.

United States of Americawe knew a lot would be closed - the spa, restaurant, etc. it lacked energy bc of it. the front desk staff was nice but not overly so, and we really didn’t see anyone else. breakfast was pretty sad given what we paid, even for a grab and go. without amenities, the value is questionable.
beautiful property, well located to many sights in the area, big / clean rooms.

United States of AmericaThe parking was not good. Had to park far and it was hilly. The spa is not open and the resteraunt is not open. At times, there was. On more than one occasion, there was not a recpeptionist in the front and it was time consuming finding a staff member to help.
The rooms are very big. The castle feels like a resort. It does not feel like we were in a small ny state town. The views and grounds were beautiful. The staff is very nice and helpful.

The room was great but was disappointed when I found out I was the only guest and also I heard about this great breakfast but it was a boxed meal. I guess that’s expected being it was right after it opened after Covid. I just spent a lot of money for no access to the ammenities

United States of AmericaDespite having been advertised as a spa, all facilities were closed seasonally {there is an an outdoor pool in a separate spa building}, and the hotel restaurant was also closed during our stay. The provided breakfast did not include any prepared food, as was something like what one would expect at a Super 8 or other budget motel {packaged muffins, yoghurt in containers, cereal}. The hotel desk staff were not at all helpful. We were double-charged for our stay, and had to bring this to the attention of our credit card company before a credit was the overcharge was made.
Castle Hotel originated as a palatial mansion that was later adapted for other uses, most recently as a hotel. The hotel includes a grand old building, with a church-like grand hall that is used for wedding receptions and other events. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and are located on a tall hill overlooking the Hudson River Valley. We stayed in a modern wing, and our room was comfortable. Tarrytown is a short drive away, and there are several excellent restaurants there.
