Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe room was wonderful. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. I meant to check the mattress and pillow brand before I checked out and I forgot to. The house was really lovely, and the host, Alex, was hysterical. So knowledgeable about early US history, and just had us rolling with his jokes.

United States of AmericaA wonderful stay from begin to end. The house is cozy and charmingly decorated for the Christmas season. The owner is friendly and accommodating, taking time to engage in fun conversation with his guest. Our room was cute and comfortable, and our breakfast each morning was visually appealing and delicious. Truly one of the best stays we’ve ever had. I highly recommend, and will book again for future visits.

United States of AmericaIf you have preference to stay in the main house as opposed to staying in the back cottage, make sure to mention this at the time of booking. While the cottage is charming, I would have preferred to stay at the main house. That's just me. Some may prefer the cottage. Note the Juniper Room where we stayed is on the upper floor of the cottage and if you are limited in your mobility this may pose a problem.
This is a quaint B&B located a 10 minute walk from Colonial Williamsburg. It has charm and you feel you are "back in the day". We like that the polar was open to us to grab a snack, tea/coffee and water at our convenience. Check in was a breeze and the inn keeper Mary Susan, Leroy the cook and Alex the owner were super accommodating, easy to talk to and very accessible if necessary. The homemade breakfasts each day were yummy and if you need a special accommodation (vegan, gluten free etc.) they were happy to oblige. We thoroughly enjoyed Alex's stories each morning of the area and his friendly demeanor. He is funny and charismatic. He makes you feel right at home.

We had a great stay at this Bed&Breakfast. We were able to check in early and Alex was super friendly. The breakfast was outstanding and we loved the conversation with the other guests. We booked the smallest room since it was our last night of our vacation and it was all we need.

United States of AmericaI needed to drink more water and the pitchers in the breakfast room ran out quickly so we just had bathroom faucet access. So only suggestion is more water :-) Apologies if there was some located elsewhere and I just didn't know/ask.
Location, breakfast, staff all fabulous and the layout to be able to have social time with friends that were also staying there was great. Bed was comfortable and bathroom had everything we needed. Was a great stay and we'd visit again.

United States of AmericaThe B&B is charming, and the owner and staff are lovely. I was so impressed that the owner really made it a priority to individually connect with each guest, and we really enjoyed chatting with him. They were also very accommodating to my various food allergies, and the breakfasts were filling, delicious, and beautiful! The location is also great, right across the street from William & Mary, so it's easy to walk to Merchants' Square and Colonial Williamsburg.

The B&B was located right across the street from The College of William & Mary, was easy to find and easily accessible to the surrounding area. It was cute and homey on the inside, and the staff were wonderful and helpful if you wanted tips of things to do in the area. They were always up for an entertaining conversation and the breakfast they cooked was fantastic. Great place to stay in Williamsburg!
