Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNo lift but this was a minor inconvenience
Very pleasant old world charm with comfortable room and friendly staff and the breakfasts were excellent. The location is ideal and within reasonable walking distance to the reataurants in the Market area and they even have a discount voucher for T Bonz restaurant, which they own, which is excellent for dinner. Good parking facilities which is a bonus in this part of Charleston.

United States of AmericaCharleston is very expensive generally and so the price was to be expected. Minor repairs needed to our bathroom floor.
Fantastic location, in the middle of the historic district, excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. The house is full of character.

United States of AmericaI was in the cottage behind the main house and the wifi signal couldn't be found on multiple devices during the entire stay, despite alerting the staff. The lower rooms of the cottage can be a bit noisy from the door closing as guests come and go. If you stay on a lower floor expect to hear walking from the rooms above.
The staff was super friendly. It was really easy to checkin late. The location is great. It has parking. The breakfast was good.

United KingdomAs others have flagged, the rooms are a bit tired. The annex doesn't have the charm of the main house, but even that is looking a bit faded itself. Our bathroom felt a bit cramped with the toilet right next to the bath. The towel rail fell off the wall when I lifted a towel off it, and the sink was badly cracked. The rooms aren't very well soundproofed - our upstairs neighbours moved around a lot during the night and other guests were opening and closing doors at all hours, so earplugs would be a good bet.
The room was really spacious and well equipped, there was lots of furniture with space for clothes and a small seating area with the bathroom off that. The furniture fits the period feel of the house and looks good in the room, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. The staff member who greeted us was very friendly and welcoming and explained everything clearly - we didn't really come into contact with the staff again after that, which was fine as we didn't need anything. There is free coffee, tea and snacks outside the room. There are plenty of sockets and usb slots to charge a phone.

United States of AmericaThe breakfast was wonderful as we had it both mornings of our stay out in the patio, which was very nice! The staff was very attentive, and breakfast took no time at all to be served. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I’m sorry we only had three days and two nights stay in Charleston but will be Back soon and plan to stay at your inn again and look to more of the historic downtown Charleston. Thanks again Mark and Maureen from Cape Cod

United KingdomThe room was on the top floor but we were helped up with our luggage. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was excellent. We had very poor water pressure in the sink and shower. It was an historic b and b so these things don't really bother us. We were allowed to wait till our afternoon flight and they stored our luggage and we always had access to hot coffee and snacks.
We found the location was very good. A bit of a walk down Meeting Street to get to historic sites but still central enough.

GermanyOur room had blinded windows, I guess because the veranda was right in front of it. Entrance to the oarking can easily be missed and you can end up in a public parking lot (we did, see picture, left is the hotel driveway) got charged 60$ for getting in and out immediately, but that’s not to blame on the hotel.
Downtown locataion, lovely furnished rooms, great a la carte menue, very friendly and caring staff
