While the stained glass windows of the property add character and charm, they also come alive in the morning sun so that sleep is impossible after sunrise. Curtains would have been incredible.

Loved this place! Owner was very responsive and attentive. The house was close to everything, clean and spacious. It even had a cool clawfoot tub to soak in at the end of the day!!!!

The door code is very handy! Also, the host does a great job of sending you information on really nice sites in the neighborhood - we had time to visit and "perch" at a local bakery and to go to nearby stores. Richmond has very interesting architecture and very distinctive neighborhoods, so it's helpful to hear from someone who knows about them. Because of the kitchen, we could sleep in and eat in (or out) when it suited us. My husband spilled something on his clothes, and we were able to do a quick load of laundry. Next time, I'm bringing makings for summer G &Ts so we can sit on the front porch and just talk and listen to quiet music: Ahhhhhh!

Not a complaint, but it was pretty chilly at night -- maybe put an extra set of blankets in one of the closets?

The place was super clean and very well appointed - we cooked dinner one night and found everything we needed in terms of cooking implements, dishes, etc. Bathrooms were well stocked with toiletries and towels. Plenty of storage space for our personal stuff, too. The location is an easy drive from the major tourist attractions downtown.

Slightly older property but no major complaints. It was a little musty and James promptly provided candles. The living area is a little tight for the family to sit around and hang out.

My 2 guests who slept in the second bedroom said the mattress was a bit firm, but they slept really well without waking up once. No complaints!

I absolutely loved this house down, and so far, one of my favorite bookings. Great location, and it was simple yet gorgeous on the inside. It had everything I needed, was comfortable, affordable for 3 nights, and clean. I had no trouble with finding parking and no issues with the upstairs neighbors; they were mostly quiet during my stay with occasional furniture moving around and TV. Well stocked cutlery and supplies in the kitchen, and plenty of towels, washcloths, etc. James was extremely helpful and courteous, so I'd love to book this place again if I'm ever back in richmond.

Since pets are allowed, deep vacuuming is a must. I don’t recommend the shag rugs for this exact reason - hard to keep clean and really tells the history of past stays.

What a charming house! The details are beautiful from the stain glass windows to double French doors. The kitchen is well stocked for full use, plenty of towels and washer and dryer available. James earns a five star rating for his promptness and quick solutions for a few kinks that popped up during our stay - and as they do, but some hosts are not always quick to respond as well as resolve swiftly. James is an excellent host! One thing to share with young families (we traveled with our 3yr old and 8mo old and wanted a kitchen and some space for the girls) This is a single family home that is now 2 apartments - one down stairs and one upstairs. Both are available for rent. Since this is older home, you’ll hear those above you more so than a newer home. We were lucky to have people above us who were really quite, but I was happy we traveled with our sound machine for the three year old. Also Forest Hill Ave is a pretty well traveled road and can hear the traffic clearly in the front room. If it was warmer, we would have truly enjoyed the massive front porch as well as the backyard. It’s wonderful house to enjoy old Richmond charm!
