For the price paid, we are expecting at least 4 star facilities. The place was rather run down, spa water was dense, pool crowded and the rooms smelt musty guise by heavy use of bleach.

It’s location in the mountain and access to a hot pool

The only negative experience we had resulted from the belligerent drunk (off duty) property bartender who joined our northern lights tour. He bragged about flipping one of the properties snow machines, and yell talked to anyone unfortunate enough to be near him. We watched him aggressively yell at it his coworkers on duty and throw a drunken tantrum. It unfortunately ruined the experience of the excursion we paid for and we’re looking forward to.

The hot springs and landscape are stunning! The staff are friendly and very helpful. It’s an eclectic property with a lot of experiences offered on site.

No control of climate control and too hot and dry. Understand this place is extreme climate, but would have been nice if had more control.

Property needs some TLC. Heat in room is controlled somewhere else. Have no temp control. Restaurant is expensive and food is not that good.

The temperature in the rooms is difficult to regulate. The restaurant needs to develop a better plan for seating customers at tables. They do not take reservations and the wait times can be excessive.

Beautiful setting. Clean and comfortable rooms. Great food and drinks at the on site restaurant.

The hotel is dirty - lobby, toilets, carpets, bar area, yuk. The hot springs and change rooms are filthy. They are apparently understaffed - whether that is due to poor management or lack of interest, I don’t know, the result is lack of cleaning and when checking in on time we found our room was not ready, and after driving all day to get there, that was not the welcome we hoped for and I feel for the staff because nobody trying to check in enjoyed hearing “your room is not ready yet”. What’s more is, they had all day to tell us our room would not be ready by the checkin time they had given us, but they waited until we were there to tell us.

The room was big, and the beds are comfy. We were in Moose lodge.

The Rude Activities Staff! They were not welcoming, friendly or very helpful! They were doing a job they were paid to do and that was it. They were sometimes rude and condescending to the group , rudely calling someone out in the group. (2 different tour guides did this). They could use a microphone or something so the group in the back could hear them! They left the elderly way behind to the point of them not being able to hear .

Our room was pretty old and not much cleaned. It got too warm and we couldn’t adjust the temperature in the room. The bathroom fan and light was always on, and the plugs weren’t working between beds. Also one night they closed the hot springs when we tried to soak. That was disappointing. It could be because someone fell and got injured by the hot springs. It was slippery due to algae by the hot springs entrance. They must have cleaned there since it wasn’t slippery next morning.

hot springs access and Northern Lights viewing.

Guest rentals are a bit "thin"; there were only two snow machines (snowmobiles) to rent, and they often were not returned on time, so many guests were unhappily waiting their turn. The Ice Hotel is not worth the price of admission.

The hot springs (Rock Lake) are the obvious star of this property. The restaurant offers very good food, but the wait to get in can be long. The staff we interacted with were uniformly helpful and friendly.

Lots of unwritten rules about how to get food and drinks at the restaurant. No bartender on duty before 4 pm (but you just have to guess this because people are coming and going from the bar all day), can't sit down until ALL people are standing at the hostess desk (NOT sitting in the bar), no drinks served before 10 am. At the hot springs/pool - a random supply of the coin lockers don't work. Not really a big deal though people did seem to take my towel half the time when I brought it to the end of the ramp.

The scenery at the hot springs and resort is amazing. The tour guides were mostly really nice. The lattes at the cafe in the Activity meet-up spot are GREAT!

Restaurant and activities were outdated. They were trying to control dozens of guests only by handwritten memo or their memory! And sure enough, they were always getting confused for order and upset. I guess they get enough profit to introduce better systems because all guests have to pay a lot of additional money to stay this resort…

Old but it was clean. The room was not very warm but that’s fine thanks to nice hot springs.

Nowhere to have coffee in the main building whilst waiting for check-in and the activity centre was very basic. Rooms were more basic that expected from reading other reviews and looking at website.
