To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Great location in centre of SF. Very helpful staff allowed me to check-in early, which was nice. Fair sized room and good value for money. Good coffee machine in room and also in lounge.

CanadaRooms are a bit small and dated but reasonable for the price and we weren't spending a lot of time inside anyhow.
Convenient walking distance to the places we were spending time in (Chinatown, North Beach). Staff are lovely. Complimentary happy hour drink, tea, coffee and water filling station was appreciated.

Check in went smoothly and they even let me check in early. Staff were all exceptionally helpful and friendly. Location was perfect for me, good for business but also very walkable to Embarcadero Building/Center, North Beach, and Chinatown. Rooms were small but seemed clean and bed and linens were super cozy. There was a double bed, good amount of free space and a desk. The tv connects remotely to your device to easily stream. Overall, an insanely good value for the city and exceeded all expectations.
