Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Convenience to getting to downtown.
Room was great. Location we wish had been nearer to downtown...our fault. First morning breakfast they were out of everything and still an hour left of breakfast hours - said they ran out. Second morning was great and young lady working was awesome. I think staff - front desk/valet person could have more knowledge of the surroundings. We did use public transportation and the gentleman for bank security next door was much more helpful with information on the downtown attractions/restaurants.

A little run down. Could use an update. Elevators need to be remodeled - elevator doors are peeling back
The staff were very friendly. If something wasn’t working etc they were very responsive to make sure things got fixed asap.

It could be a little cleaner, with nicer/newer furniture. But for the value, I could not ask for too much.
Location. It is an easy and short drive to everything in downtown Charleston.

Room had bad smell, and bedsheets did not look fresh, with wrinkles and some stains that probably don’t come off

Cleanliness could have been better. Hairs in the shower upon arrival. Towels were a bit mismatched in size for body towels. The short curtains blocked the air from flowing into the room. An adjoining door allowed lots of noise from next door…could hear entire conversations late into the night. The staff was fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming at all stages of our quick stay. Pricey for the quality though, but honestly what isn’t these days.
The breakfast was good. Decent variety.

The room wasn't great. The furniture was banged up. There is a big hole under the sink and there is no cabinet so....The windows were so dirty on the outside that it was difficult to see through even though that side view of the hotel was nothing. The television network offers no "TV guide or Channel guide". The channel selection is okay but you never know what you're watching or what is coming on later. The AC/heat fan runs constantly. Never stops. I asked for a wake up call but didn't get called.
The hotel was a very good price to be located near the Historic District. The breakfast was very good . The area was clean every morning and the variety was nice. The location was good being a short drive to King, Meeting, etc. The in room microwave was handy. And the fridge.

IT smelled bad, our room was open when we first arrived, everything felt dingy. The most annoying part was the parking. No clear direction where to go. Then a big deal was made out of valet parking but there were very few cars there.

My complaints are; it would have been nice to have had the trash emptied daily or have larger trash cans. Also better water pressure, and that it didn't take so long for the water to get hot when getting in the shower.
The breakfast was delicious. The Comfort Inn served anything we could have wanted for breakfast, great variety of choices. The room was large; we were not tripping over each other. The bathroom was spacious. The motel was located within easy driving distance to and from the historic area, not counting for traffic. The staff in the dining room was friendly, and helpful in assisting with making waffles etc as needed. She always had a smile on her face, and she SPOKE to everyone entering the dining room. I wish I knew her name. She was wearing a name tag, but I was never in a position to read it. I should have made the effort. We stayed from 1/31 through 2/3, so this would be breakfast on 2/1 through 2/3/24.

Had to go to another floor for ice, water in the lobby was horrible but the water from the juice dispenser was very tasty., parking wasn't secured enough.
