Our shower leaked so bad that it would run all the way out until the hallway. When we told the staff about it, they were very nonchalant and didn’t care until I got a manager to step in and help us though we only stayed there for one night there wasn’t anything they could do about it every time we had to shower we had to take 10 or 20 towels and put them all over the floor while we took quick five minute shower so that the water wouldn’t leak so bad.

Great location. Easy to check in and check out. Lots of things around to do.

The air con is permanently turned on and you can't turn off or amend the settings; there are none! Accordingly, we were left being blasted with cold air the entire stay and meant the room was too cold. Our room had a locked interlinking door between our room and the next which meant we could hear everything next door and vice versa. This was annoying and not something I'd expect for a hotel charging what they do. There is no parking at the hotel and no discount offered on nearby carparks. The two behind the hotel charge either $40 or $62 for 24 hours, which is ridiculous.

The location is perfect for the sights. As mentioned by others, the hotel is old but our room had certainly been recently renovated with new decor.

The doorknob on the bathroom fell off and when the water was first turned on it ran orange. We couldn't figure out how to turn the air conditioner down so we were very cold. The stairwells are in need of painting.

The beds were comfortable. The rooms were clean. The lobby exquisite. The staff very cordial. We met one of the security guards, Steve. He was such a delight! He understands the meaning of customer service!

Four front desk employees I encountered were not at all friendly/welcoming/helpful. I received no reciprocation of my greeting to her when I checked in. A second woman flatly told me to go to the gift shop when I asked if she could make change for a $5, and the man walked away from me when I said I was there to check out. He said you’re all set, took my keys, and walked away into the back room. I had wanted a printed receipt of my stay, but he didn’t reappear before I had to go. Once home, I called to inquire about a $75 charge I saw from you on my VISA. The gal at the front desk who answered told me only Accounting could help & to call back. I’ve left two messages on Accounting’s voicemail and no one has returned my call. Housekeeping did not come to my room Wed, the day after I checked in, so my trash piled up and I didn’t have a clean washcloth for Thrs. The hot water faucet wouldn’t turn off - constant drip.

The room was spacious and comfortable. My view was great- just what I’d hoped for. The bellhops in the lobby were all friendly, helpful, and informative.

Area is loud, and there was a lot of noise from the room with the adjoining door. We could see light underneath the door when they were there so the sound came through very clearly.

Beautiful view, comfortable room. Great location and good value for the area.

Hotel is very old (1893). We were in Room 578 and thought it odd that we could gain unrestricted access to the corner room as we controlled the lock and the occupants of the corner room did not. So, security at this facility is an issue. The door accessing the room the other direction had been screwed shut with two screws that would be easy to undo. One screw had actually split the wood of the door. Parking is weird and very expensive. $62/day with no in-out privileges. Definitely not user friendly and limited in scope. Hot water is not very hot and a trickle so bathing was a tepid experience.

Arrival, Staff was very helpful. Access to Chicago attractions is easy. School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Field Museum, etc. Hotel itself is charming and nicely appointed but workmanship has not kept up with the original quality. View from the room was amazing!

In fact, many have already written here, that the hotel needs renovation of the rooms, the furniture and accessories are actually all ok.

Spacious rooms. The hotel is also dedicated to ESG themes and I liked that there is no daily cleaning. The cleaner only asks if there is a need, e.g. for toilet paper or coffee. White towels are a nice white, not gray.

Basically, this is an old, noble hotel. I have stayed here many times. I love it, but the general feel of the hallways and public spaces is just a tad on the shabby side, and the mechanical systems (climate control) are obsolete. On the other hand, one night we were cold and asked for a small heater and the staff quickly responded, sending one up to our room.
