The pool area had a very strong Chlorine smell throughout the whole pool area, the hallways smelt of terrible chlorine, when in the pool area and in the hot tub or pool the chlorine is so strong it burns your eyes and makes your throat even hurt, you get a bad headache because how strong the chlorine is. The front desk was never around to answer the phone when we would call and have questions to ask them. Elevator and hallways need a good cleaning. Elevator was very slow. No towels available in pool area, bathroom door in pool area does not latch close and lock so you aren't even able to use a bathroom in privacy. The kiddie pool is absolutely freezing ice cold. Pool area could use a good cleaning. Clocks are incorrect in pool area so don't know the time even if you wanted to. Floors are dirty in breakfast area of hotel. Front desk was complaining to me about other customers that previously were staying there and I don't feel that's appropriate. Parking lot doesn't have a lot of parking. Pool slide could be quite dangerous especially without being supervised and having proper rules enforced. Rust stains everywhere in pool area. Shower curtains sucked, and the showers pressure was so high it literally hurt my kids and their skin it hurt taking a shower. And even though shower curtain was covering shower the water leaks everywhere in the bathroom and the moisture from having no air flow or vent in shower bathroom area the moisture from showering causes water to be everywhere in the bathroom.

The room was clean. Bathrooms were clean in common areas. Breakfast had a great variety for the kiddos.

Pool area was fun but dirt was everywhere along the pool deck. The pick a time to swim was lame but it worked out.

Pool deck needed to be cleaned. There were no towel racks in the bathroom in the room. The staff was unable to keep towels stocked in the pool area.

Check in was uncomfortable, two young guys, not really answering questions, asked if we wanted pool time, didn't explain that very well. Exit door by our room very noisy in the morning, very early 5 am, Parking was aweful.

Floors in the hallway/elevator/pool area were dirty. Jets in the hot tub didn't even come as high as my low back.

Great location. Check-in was quick. Guest service agent was very friendly and knowledgeable. Room was cozy and clean. Kids loved the waterslide/pool.

I booked this hotel specifically for the pool and waterslide amenities. I have two young children and since this was a family weekend getaway, this feature was the main reason we were staying and our only source of entertainment. I understand that sometimes maintenance issues come up unexpectedly, but it sounded as if it had been scheduled, and I wonder if maybe it could have been planned for a different part of the week (not the weekend when families are most often traveling). We were disappointed, but this will not deter us from trying out the Country Inn & Suites at another point in time.

Upon arriving we were greeted by friendly employees who informed me immediately that the pool was undergoing maintenance and may not be open at all for the duration of our stay. I really appreciated this, as it gave me time to find a different hotel with an open pool. I loved that the staff were not bound and gagged (masked) and how accommodating they were when we decided to stay at a different hotel. I also greatly appreciated the lack of fear-mongering signs and how the staff were not power-tripping tyrants, something our second hotel had in abundance. In hindsight, after experiencing a different hotel, I wish we had stayed with our original choice; even without an operational pool it would have been a better weekend for us.

Lots of confusion around having to pay to use the pool, no clean towels in the pool, lots of dirty towels in the pool area on the floor, tables, chairs, etc. The front desk did get towels once asked. People smoking right outside the door.

The property and the room were very nice. Lots of parking.

I would have felt better with a mask mandate for everyone. Too many kids running around maskless in the halls and with the low rate of vaccination of kids in MN i doubt that they were vaccinated.

Room - we were upgraded to a suite which meant our Grandaughters could all stay in the room with us!! Really like the “stamp” needed to enter pool area although it was not enforced all day - one mom said that there were people coming/going without any monitoring.

The pool was a big reason why we chose to stay there and it was closed every day after our first night there. We came to Duluth to see the beautiful views of superior and we would've stayed closer to the lake had we known the pool wouldn't be available. Everything else was great.

Breakfast was great! Staff had a very good attitude! Very attentive to our needs, gave us great information about the area and things to do.
