Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Not enough face towels and one night we did not get a tissue refill after the room was cleaned. The rooms were smaller than I’m used too but I’m not from New York.
The location was great and a 10 minute walk from everything.

Our only gripe would be that the hotel bar didn’t open on Sunday and Monday.. it is always nice having been out for the day and evening is to be able to have a drink to unwind, not a major issue as there’s a mini shop at reception that sells bits and pieces.
Very comfortable, spacious room, great location, all amenities that’s needed for a great family holiday. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Confusing taxi/uber dropped off on 39th (back of hotel so had to walk around the block with suitcases) vs front as GPS doesn't recognize 40th address. Just make sure driver goes to 40th address. Gap at bottom of room door means noise from hallway carried into room.
Great location near Bryant Park, shopping, restaurants and times square/Broadway. Nice walk in shower and comfy beds. Easy access to subway at end of street.

The bathrooms did not have any towel racks and the housekeeper kept forgetting the washcloths.

The breakfast offer could be a bit better
The staff at the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Times Square is simply wonderful. I had read some slightly negative reviews on the property before arriving and was worried. This hotel is outstanding and the front desk and luggage store staff incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful. They did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and nice and always with a smile and a kind word. The rooms are clean, and a good size for NYC and we got an amazing view of the Empire from one of the high floor rooms. The location is ideal to explore the city with multiple sub stations close and main attractions within reach. Special shoutout to Mr Miguel at the front desk and his incredibly positive attitude and outstanding service.

Lighting in the bathroom was not great. The window let a significant amount of cool air in and it was taped. We really would not have wanted to stay in this room in the winter.
Location is great. Right down the street from all of the hustle and bustle of Time Square, but far enough away to be a bit quieter and less bright. Bonus is that there are subway entrances nearby. Staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean, even the Keurig. The bathroom had a magnifying and significant counter space. The bed was very comfortable.

Location was absolutely unbeatable. We were avoiding the subway due to how bad it’s become since the pandemic and this location was great for being able to walk to all the major sites we wanted to, with lyfts/ubers for the rest. Felt safe even with our 8 year old girl.

The coffee provided in the room is not good.
Excellent location, few steps away from Times Square. Very polite and helpful staff. Free luggage storage and printing facilities. We arrived earlier than check-in time, but the reception desk provided us access to our room. Clean and comfortable rooms. At check-out the hotel staff arranged us a taxi.

Very limited space to accommodate 2 double beds. I could open only one luggage at a time due to space restrictions. I can understand the space limitations in a city like New York.
The beds were so comfy. Very close to all attractions. Walking distance to Times Square, Rockfeller Centre and Subways. The two ladies at the restaurant were kind and helpful. I forgot their names. They were the best. The hotel had laundry facilities which was very helpful.

Have the kitchen able to prepare the hot breakfast that was on the voucher.
Nice room, very clean, plenty of towels and quite. Comfortable beds and a good shower. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location. The only minor complaint is that we paid extra for breakfast and the 6 days we were there they didn’t have any of the hot items available.

It is older than it looks in pictures, a bit worn out. The real address differs from what indicated in booking, which is the rear of the building. Shower was in a bathtub, not optimal.
Location is perfect, close to subway, plenty of food options and many attractions. The room was spacious.
