Housekeeping. The bed was made but some trash was not thrown out and the bath mat was soaking wet and they did not replace

I was happy with this hotel and I don't have any really negative comments. Perhaps one thing they could improve is the lighting in the room, which was a bit dim. One suggestion: the coffee in the lobby is in a niche and not easy to see. I discovered it on my last day while waiting for a cab. Why not point that out to the customers when they check in?

Good location. I was able to walk to most attractions and to the train station (very handy for my day trip to Salem). Very comfortable bed. Didn't hear any street noise - an important point for me, since I am a very light sleeper. All staff members were polite and accomodating. My last day I had an evening flight and they held my luggage after check- out at no extra charge.

I would have liked a microwave to be able to heat up leftover food since I stayed there 4 nights. I also prefer a bathtub to a shower, but perhaps those are in accessible rooms. No one asked me if I wanted to include breakfast or told me where I could go to relieve my dog.

The staff were extremely kind and helpful, the beds were super comfy, and the room was quiet. A keurig coffee maker with coffee pods and good cream would be nice for a downtown Portland hotel.

There are a number of street people who do cause a commotion or two.

The hotel is nicely situated for light rail stops and it is also in close proximity to Union Station for the new and improved train schedule between Portland and Seattle.

- The room was quite dark. We missed a bright light in the ceiling. - Also this is not the fault of the property but it’s good to know for other travelers that this area in downtown Portland has a lot of homeless and we felt very uncomfortable a couple of times walking around. I was in Portland in the same area years ago and this was not an issue. It’s a pity

Very nice staff. The restaurant had a good breakfast menu. Bathroom was of good size. It’s close to many touristy area. Loved the pinball machines. I would stay again.

When a person types in Portland, Maine….. there should be no way that any other hotels from a similar named city would pop up in the feed of choices. I was specifically looking at hotels by the water and hoping to enjoy Maine lobster, so I know I was looking at properties in Portland, Maine because I was checking for Lobster restaurants also.

The problem was that I was booking a room for Portland, Maine and somehow, booking.com allowed hotels from Portland, Oregon show up as choices. I should have looked more carefully but I assumed because I was specifically searching Portland, Maine, that those would be the only choices shown. So we had no room when we arrived in Portland, Maine. I called the hotel and cancelled the Oregon room as soon as I realized, but I figured that Booking.com would likely not give me my money back. I really did not know how to report this problem. The Marriott people were very nice. The exact named hotel in Portland,Maine said this happens a lot. We could not afford the only room they had available at $500 a night, so we had to drive outside of the city for a cheaper room.
