Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThis property as of end of March 2024 is in dire need of renovation. Only the common breakfast/dining area seemed to be up-to-date; everything else: floor carpets, pool tiling, wall fixtures, elevator paneling, room wall painting/papering, and plumbing must’ve looked great in the mid-90s/2000s. Not so much nowadays. Riding that line between rustic and run-down. Totally understand that for the lower price, some expectations are easily tempered, but even the pool’s whiteboard indicated the water hadn’t been tested/treated in three days - right before a heavy use weekend! And no bathroom close by the pool; you have to go all the way back upstairs to reception to use the facilities.
The location, included breakfast, pool, and fireside movies were very convenient and nice for the price.

United States of AmericaThe coffee provided in the room was subpar, with only decaf available. Additionally, the coffee maker was unclean, with an old, used coffee bag left in the drainer. Regarding breakfast, while the muffins, coffee, and waffles were enjoyable, the hot options left much to be desired. The scrambled eggs and gravy were particularly disappointing; we tried them on the first day but couldn't bring ourselves to eat them again for the next two days. It would be beneficial if the hotel could rotate through different hot options, especially for guests staying multiple nights. Additionally, clearer and larger signage visible from the parking lot indicating the location of the reception would be greatly appreciated by first-time visitors.
On a positive note, the room size was ample, and having access to a balcony was appreciated. However, it was evident that the balcony had not been cleaned or dusted in months

United States of AmericaCould have been a little cleaner, dusty furniture, no tea in the room, only coffee and didn't have tea bags at the office. Outside furniture covered in pollen and couldn't sit down.
We liked being on the ground floor, convenient to everything, the grounds were beautiful and breakfast was great.

United States of AmericaIt looks abandoned, dark and creepy in a lot of areas. The back yard area has the potential to look beautiful and it needs better lighting. The lil passage to the pool. Gross! Water dripping from ceiling, smelled like a wet dirty dog. My balcony door was off the track so that was very irritating.
The breakfast was really nice. The ambiance gives cute lil diner and you have a cool variety of foods.

United States of AmericaThe toilet had trouble flushing, and the mattresses were very worn and saggy. It seems like the rooms in general need a little bit of updating (the TV was old as well though it didn't matter for us). This would go a long way.
Beautiful conference and dining areas, very reasonable rates, balconies and grounds were very nice. Really like the way the older building has been kept and fits in to the modern surroundings. Good breakfast.

United States of AmericaMy biggest complaint was the coffee at breakfast Friday (3/29) morning. We were in a hurry, so I didn't have a chance to track anyone down, but what came out of the coffee maker was ... confusing. Very watered down, but again, I don't know what the situation was and didn't have time to ask so hopefully, it was just a fluke!
Fort Magruder's location is great as it's about 10 mins to Busch Gardens, if that, and it's got a decent amount of restaurants, plus, a Harris Teeter tucked into a neighborhood about a mile away. We've stayed here a handful of times and found the rooms consistently clean and the staff friendly and helpful. All drains tend to have draining issues, but it's a small complaint. The hotel is very affordable and has a complimentary breakfast that is decent, offering eggs and sausage in addition to all the morning carbs. There's an indoor AND outdoor pool, but I don't think we've ever used either bc our stays have been short. As it's also a conference center, the lobby is cavernous and a little spooky at night, but my son and I dig that.
