Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaNothing we did not like other than the housekeeping could use some Softscrub on the bathroom sink :)
We liked the 70s look that is still going on throughout the place and different things to see including the plane outside! It was perfect to stay at Don Q Inn before seeing the House on the Rock

United States of AmericaThe microwave did not work and the water in the shower went from to hot to very cold in seconds, making it hard to adjust to a good temp.
The hotel was nice and the room was clean. I only stayed for one night and had to leave early so did not get to see much.

Unique place that has been there a long time! I remember going there as a teenager in the 80s so it was fun to stay there again. Price was reasonable and great location to House on the Rock.

United States of AmericaBeds. Single most important downside of this place were beds. From three rooms my friends and occupied two had stiff and extremely noisy beds.
Old quirky hotel with lots of bits to look for around the premise, spacious common area, awesome pool that has passage from indoor to outdoor - pretty cool! Hot tub jacuzzi indoor, sunbeds and chairs outside. THE PLANE!!! whole giant plane from post WWII era that is accessible for everyone to explore. Quiet area because the highway is behind a little elevation that blocks the noise from the front, and fields on the other side. Wifi has very good speed. It was around 50/12 mbps on my phone. Decent breakfast. I liked biscuits and gravy, plenty of boiled eggs, various of beverages, waffles, of course, with Smucker brand jams and peanut butter. Perfect location for tourists because it is located right in the middle between The house on rock, cave, state park and Madison.

GermanyEven though part of the charm is the vintage and eclectic decor, a few things seemed worn-out and in need of refurbishing.
Loved the uniqueness of the whole place, including all the games and seating areas in the upstairs area, as well as a huge airplane that you could visit!

United States of AmericaThe airplane on the inside was COVERED in bird poop, and steak terribly! The bed mattress was very stiff and uncomfortable, and the breakfast sausage tasted like dog food.
I looked the pool and hot tub. Also the barber chairs on the mail floor were neat, and comfortable to sit in.

United States of AmericaIt’s an old property, every outlet in our room was faulty, the top outlets would not work. The pool was nice, but there was a big group of people with a cooler drinking alcohol that were down there for hours, so we didn’t get to enjoy it much.
The location was great for us. Right down the road from House on the Rock and about an hour from the Dells.

United States of AmericaYou could tell the property is in a slow decline. At one time, this was quite a place to go with the theme rooms, the airplane exhibit, and the awesome pool. But you could tell the property has been somewhat neglected recently. A freshening up with new sheets, pillows, mattresses would go a long way. We did notice a new steel roof was installed not too long ago.
Location was a plus - not too far away from American Players Theater, where we saw a play. Breakfast was decent - biscuits and gravy were good as was the make-your-own waffles. Very interesting interior with the circular fireplace and all the barber chairs surrounding it. The pool was awesome even though it needs a freshening up - new paint, etc.

United States of AmericaThe property is starting to show its wear and tear, the door to our bathroom was ready to fall apart the knob on it was coming off, The staff that run the hotel are hard to understand but are very nice.
The plane on the property was nice, need some tender loving care as it has been neglected.. The pool was nice and clean and we had it to ourselves pretty much as the hotel was slow. It was nice not having to battle children in the hot tub who use it as a swimming pool.
