To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

CanadaTechnical systems of hotel are broken. Multiple times I had to go down to get my hotel card key to work. Using phone as key never worked. Elevators didn’t work - never all of them working and at one point only 1/4 was working while the hotel was completely packed with an event. It took 40min to go down from my room to get key fixed and get back up. Staff were completely unhelpful and jokey. The car park barrier didn’t work properly and even the valet staff couldn’t get it to work properly.

United States of AmericaCould be cleaner in rooms. Just seemed dusty and smelled a bit musty. Hallway smelled like weed during check in. We did check in when a drunk guest was causing a scene and the front desk gave us a complimentary upgrade which was very nice and we didn’t ask for that, so it made the stay a bit better.

United States of AmericaThe overpriced parking & valet services. Also the pictures on booking that describe the deluxe king w balcony are NOT what you get when you get there. The inaccuracy caused me to have to pay for an upgraded room which was not in the budget. Also, the breakfast is a buffet & it's just mediocre. Don't think I'd stay again.
